Akufo-Addo introduces new faces to his government

The much-anticipated and widely rumoured ministerial reshuffle is out.

The changes saw a few new entrants in the Akufo-Addo administration. The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Ophelia Mensah, is coming in fresh as the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South, Newman Dakoa, has been appointed as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

Former Tema East Legislator, Daniel Titus Glover is the Minister-designate for the Greater Accra region.

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah is the deputy minister-designate for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development.

The Ngleshie-Amanfrom MP, Sylvester Tetteh is the deputy minister-designate for Information.

Some key personalities, like the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta; the Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu; and the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, have all been shown the exit.

The Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Amin Adam, is now the Minister for Finance.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, has been appointed the Minister for Health, and the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, has also been named the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development.

On the other hand, some appointees have been re-assigned to different ministries. The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, is taken to Works and Housing, and his deputy, Fatimatu Abubakari, replaces him.

The substantive minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso Yeboah, has been moved to Roads and Highways.

The Greater Accra Minister, Henry Quartey, is now the Minister for the Interior.

Meanwhile, the new faces and the deputies promoted to substantive will appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting and approval before they will be sworn into office by the President.
