AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine is constructing a Two-Storey 400-bed capacity Girls dormitory at a cost of GH17million for Fomena T.I. Ahmaddiya Senior High School.
The new block is to replace the old Girls dormitory which was destroyed by fire in February last year.
Speaking at a ground breaking ceremony at the school, to mark the start of the project, the Director of Engineering at AGA, Ing. Eric Ofori Broni, said following the destruction of the old dormitory block, the Adansihemaa Nana Amonimaa Dede II pleaded with (AGC) management to come to the aid of the school.

He further stated that since provision of educational infrastructure is part of the company’s 10-Year Socio Economic Development Plan, management readily agreed to respond to the call.
Ing. Ofori Broni stated that the GH17million is solely for the dormitory block construction, and that additional funds will be provided for the procurement of beds, mattresses and other necessities.
The Adansi North District Director of Education, Alhaji Abubakar Amankwa, while thanking AGA for the gesture, asked management of the company to endeavour to build an examination centre for the district, as it has done for the other two municipalities in Obuasi.
Barimansu Antwi Kwanin II, Fomena Benkumhene, who deputised for the Adansihene and Nana Amonimaa Dede II, Adansihemaa, were full of praises to AGA, for coming to the aid of the school.
The Adansi North DCE, Mr Charles Kofi Ogbeh, used the platform to invite AGA to partner with the Assembly in the district to realise its dreams.
