Two members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afigya Kwabre South District have gone to court to restrain the party, the Constituency Chairman, the Executive Committee and Member of Parliament from conducting the polling station elections in the constituency.
Other co-defendants are Constituency Polling Station Election Committee and the Regional NPP Steering Committee.
The plaintiffs, Rockson Osei of Nkukua Buoho and Bright Kusi Addae of Kodie are aspirants in the Polling station elections in the Afigya Kwabre South constituency.
The first and second plaintiffs are seeking an order restraining the Election Committee from conducting Polling Station election or Acclamation without Publication of Notice of Polls at the Polling Stations in the constituency.
The writ of summons filed on May 14, 2026 before a Kumasi High Court also sought an order compelling the Polling station Election Committee to publish the Notice of Poll for all polling stations in the constituency.
The plaintiffs are also seeking a declaration that any election or acclamation by the Polling Station Election Committee without the publication of Notice of Poll at all polling stations in the constituency is null and void.
The two plaintiffs claim that they successfully purchased nomination forms within the stated period from the Polling Station Election Committee and attended a Vetting upon invitation.
They averred that the Elections Committee, per the Regulation 20 of the Rules and Guidelines and Timelines for the 2026 Membership Registration and Internal Party Election, is mandated to publish Notice of Polls at least four days to the date of elections, but failed woefully to do so with the intention to unlawfully exclude some aspirants from the race.
