The Tema Regional Police Command, on Sunday, arrested suspect Bismark Kpormeno, a driver, for possession of a large quantity of compressed plant materials suspected to be narcotic drugs.
Bismark, who was driving a Hyundai Mighty II Container truck, failed to stop when he was signalled by the Tema Highway Patrol Unit, during an operation along the Tema–Ada Highway.

ASP Dede Dzakpasu, the Public Relations Officer for the Command, said Bismark was subsequently pursued and apprehended at Bondase, where a search conducted on the vehicle led to the discovery of twelve sacks and eighty parcels of compressed plant materials concealed in a container and wrapped in sellotape.
She said preliminary investigations indicated that the substance was allegedly loaded at Kpeve in the Volta Region and was being transported to Ada.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations, while the vehicle and exhibits had been impounded for evidential purposes.
“The Tema Regional Police Command wishes to assure the public of its continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and other criminal activities and urges citizens to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities,” ASP Dzakpasu concluded.
