Women’s Hope Foundation (WHF) has built and commissioned a 14-unit water closet toilet facility, comprising a bath house, store room and two mechanised boreholes, for the Kyekyewere Community, in the Kwabre North District.

The Ultramodern Toilet Facility

The facility is intended to help in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) by improving sanitation and hygiene, a major cause of NTDs in tropical areas.

Mr. Alex Adusei, Executive Director of the foundation stated that the vision was to protect people’s health and empower women, improving living standards and supporting those affected by NTDs.

He commended the Traditional Authorities, especially Nana Agyeiwaah Sarpong, the Queen mother of Kyekyewere, for releasing the piece of land freely for the construction of the facility.

He expressed gratitude for the support of the Assembly and the District Health Directorate for the support to ensure that the NTDs are eradicated from the area and Ghana as a whole.

The District Director of Health, Clement Nti-Boateng, revealed that lack of proper sanitation and drinking water can cause NTDs, affecting individuals and the economy and commended WHF and partners for their support.

Mr. Emmanuel Jackson Agumah, the District Chief Executive, expressed gratitude to WHF for their commitment to eliminating NTDs and assured the Assembly’s commitment to realising this dream.
