Zambia urges advocacy towards Public Health in Africa

The Vice President of Zambia, Mrs. Mutale Nalumango has urged leading scientists, innovators, and researchers, as well as heads of state in Africa to put into action policies and decisions that will protect public health both within and outside of Africa.

She made this known at the third International Conference on Public Health in Africa’s (CPHIA) closing ceremony on Thursday night in Lusaka, Zambia

Zambia’s vice president, Nalumango, pointed out that despite the continent’s numerous and varied public health issues, there is room for creativity, cooperation, and transformation.

“I’ve seen some of the conversations and some of the decisions made about certain things. The conference’s roundtable discussions and many venues brought to light the difficulties and complexities of public health in Africa.

The specialists present at this conference covered a wide range of topics related to public health, including as infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and diseases that are newly or re-emerging on the continent.

“We are optimistic that there is a chance for creativity, cooperation, and change, even though our public health concerns are numerous and varied,” she said.

The acting president also praised the panellists and speakers for their contributions to generating fresh concepts that will influence public health practices and policy in Africa going forward.

“As you return, I urge you to continue the legacy of knowledge and cooperation by educating those who were unable to attend, making sure to maintain the relationships, positive alliances, and revolutionary projects.

Additionally, Sylvia Masebo, the minister of health, tasked stakeholders with fortifying health systems across the continent.

“The meeting pushed us to develop a robust and effective public health system across the continent.”All public health shocks should be able to be withstood by the public health system.
