The Principal for Yeji Nursing and Midwifery Training College (YNMTC), Mr. Samuel Ansu Frimpong, has called for support to address challenges the College face currently.
YNMTC, located in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region, was established in 2015 to train sufficient number of qualified healthcare professionals to meet the demand for high-quality care in the area.
Speaking to The Chronicle, the Principal disclosed that both teachers and students reside outside the premises of the college due to the lack of bungalows and hostel facilities, adding that students who reside “very far” from the campus are conveyed to and from campus by the college bus.

He indicated that the Middle Belt Development Authority initiated the construction of a hostel facility to solve the problem, but has since been abandoned.
He further disclosed that the College had only the administration block and lecture rooms located at the premises and complained that the lecture halls are insufficient for effective teaching and learning.
He explained that the college initially only run Midwifery programme but the introduction of the Nursing programme into the college’s curriculum has increased the student population, hence the call for support.
The Principal also mentioned inadequate teaching staff as a challenge, indicating that there are only four and 12 for the Midwifery and Nursing programmes respectively, which he said is not adequate for effective teaching and learning.
He added that the college’s library and skill laboratory lacked educational resources, a situation which does not afford students a “hands-on experience” that is vital in the training of health professionals.
Mr. Samuel Ansu Frimpong, therefore, called on the government, District Assembly, chiefs and people of Yeji and philanthropists, among others, to come to the aid of the college for infrastructural development.
