World Cup 2026: Ghana drawn in Group I, face Mali and CAR

The Black Stars of Ghana have been drawn in Group I for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana will face Mali, Madagascar, Central Africa Republic, Comoros and Chad in the qualifying series for the global showpiece.

Ghana was in Pot 2 ahead of the draw which took place in Ivory Coast during the CAF 45th Ordinary General Assembly due to being outside the top 10 places in the FIFA Rankings.

Chris Hughton’s boys are chasing a fifth World Cup appearance after participating in the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022 editions.

According to the draw rule, there will be nine groups of six teams with all the group winners qualifying for the World Cup to be jointly hosted by, the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.

The four best runners-up will compete in a mini-tournament and the winner will make an intercontinental play-off.
