Thomas Tuchel will hope to put his Stamford Bridge difficulties behind him with another strong performance on the road when Chelsea travel to Watford on Wednesday night.
Following home draws with Burnley and Manchester United, the Blues’ lead atop the Premier League table has been cut to a single point.
However, Chelsea are the only unbeaten team away from home in the league having conceded just one goal in six matches. By contrast, half of Watford’s home league goals this season came in the recent 4-1 hammering of United.
Defence has also been a big issue for Claudio Ranieri’s team and Sunday’s 4-2 loss at Leicester made it 23 Premier League games without a clean sheet – a run stretching back to February 2020.
Chelsea will hope to extend their record of seven wins in their last eight league meetings against the Hornets, in which they have scored 21 goals. Chelsea should be able to slip back into their groove on the road and take advantage of Watford’s openness at the back to secure a comfortable victory.
