Vote for Sam George & co -Foh-Amoaning’s anti-gay group

In order to ensure continuous support for the passage of the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly known as the anti-gay bill into law, the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values is canvassing for votes for seven Members of Parliament (MPs) who have thrown their weight behind the bill.

The seven MPs are; Mr Samuel Nartey George, MP, Ningo-Prampram constituency; Mr Emmanuel K. Bedzrah, MP, Ho West constituency and Mr Rockson-Nelson Dafeamkpor, MP, South Dayi constituency.

The others are; Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, MP, Krachi East constituency; Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, MP, La Dadekotopon constituency; Mrs Dela Sowa, MP, Kpando constituency and Mr Alhassan S. Suhuyini, MP, Tamale North constituency.

The Coalition has implored delegates within the constituents of these MPs to vote massively for them in the primaries, to enable them stay in parliament to see through the passage of the bill into law.

The appeal was contained in a two-paged press statement signed by the National Chairman of the Coalition, Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning.

“The Coalition publicly prays for them to be maintained in their constituencies as Members of Parliament to continue the godly works they are doing for their constituency and the nation. Therefore, we ask all delegates within the constituencies of these Honourable Members of Parliament to vote massively to keep them in their seat as they help steer the passage of this all-important Bill,’ portions of the statement read.

The statement comes at the back of the impending parliamentary primaries for political parties in Ghana, especially the National Democratic Congress, which has scheduled its elections to take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

It would be recalled that these MPs led, by the legislator for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, have been spearheading the passage of the bill, which seeks to criminalise LGBTQ activities, despite stiff opposition from the Concerned Ghanaian Citizens Opposing the Passage of the Anti-Gay Bill.

Regardless, the group has been able to push for the bill to be laid before parliament by the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and is expected to be debated and approved when the House returns from recess.

Backing their request with scriptures from Nehemiah 2:18 and Zachariah 4:6-9, the Moses Foh-Amoaning Coalition prayed for victory for the seven who will be contending with others on May 13.

“We are enjoined by the Holy Scripture in Nehemiah 2:18 and encouraged by Zachariah 4:6-9, that the by the help of the Lord and the joint-support of all and sundry, victory shall be secured for these Seven (7) Honourable Members of Parliament who have worked tirelessly to bring the Bill to its current status in Parliament, where it has now been placed before the plenary for full debate.

“To our great national hero NDC MPs, we say bravo and please be assured that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the consuming power of the Holy Spirit will surely catapult you across the winning line with the overwhelming support of our tripartite Coalition (Christians, Muslims and traditional leaders), including all our venerable constituency delegates, victory will be ours,’ the statement read.
