Telecel Ghana has won two major awards at the 2026 Chamber of Commerce and Industry France-Ghana (CCIFG) Gala and Awards, earning recognition for its excellence in digital transformation, innovation and sustainability.

The company secured the Digital Transformation & Innovation Excellence Award and the Sustainability & ESG Impact Award, highlighting its efforts to advance Ghana’s digital economy while promoting responsible business practices.

Organised by the CCIFG, the awards celebrate organisations that demonstrate outstanding business leadership, innovation and positive impact.

The 2026 edition attracted nominations from leading businesses across several sectors. Entries were evaluated by an independent, multi-sectoral jury comprising industry leaders, consultants and diplomats through a detailed review and validation process based on clearly defined criteria.

Telecel Ghana’s success in two competitive categories underscores its growing role in technology-driven innovation and sustainable business development.

The ceremony brought together key stakeholders from Ghana’s business community and distinguished guests, including the French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Diarra Dime-Labille; the Economic Adviser to the President and former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper; and the President of the Board of CCI France Ghana, Guillaume Valence.

Driving Digital Transformation

Telecel Ghana’s recognition in the Digital Transformation & Innovation Excellence category reflects its strategic investments in technology solutions designed to improve the experiences of customers, businesses and communities.

Over the past year, the company has accelerated its digital transformation agenda by developing an integrated ecosystem that extends beyond traditional telecommunications services.

The ecosystem supports secure digital transactions, e-commerce, customer engagement and financial inclusion, positioning the company to contribute to the evolving needs of Ghana’s digital economy.

Advancing Sustainability and Social Impact

The company’s second award, in the Sustainability & ESG Impact category, recognises its commitment to creating long-term value through environmental stewardship, social impact and strong governance.

Telecel Ghana has incorporated environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into its operations and corporate culture, guided by the belief that business growth should go hand in hand with responsible practices that benefit communities and contribute to national development.

As part of its environmental initiatives, the company has planted 43,000 trees over the past five years and expanded its use of renewable energy through 16 solar-powered network exchanges across the country.

These interventions are intended to reduce its environmental footprint while improving operational efficiency.

Through the Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Connected for Good agenda, the company has also invested in education, digital inclusion, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) development, healthcare and community empowerment programmes.

These initiatives positively impacted more than 6,000 beneficiaries during the year under review.

The company has also promoted diversity and inclusion through female representation and initiatives aimed at improving financial and digital literacy among women entrepreneurs.

Its social interventions are complemented by a governance framework that prioritises ethical business conduct, transparency, regulatory compliance, data protection and accountability.

Commitment to Responsible Business

The two awards highlight Telecel Ghana’s approach to treating innovation and sustainability as complementary pillars of its business strategy.

The recognition reflects the company’s efforts to deliver commercially viable technology solutions while making meaningful contributions to society and the environment.

It also acknowledges the investments, partnerships and long-term initiatives through which Telecel Ghana continues to strengthen its position in the country’s digital economy.

Commenting on the recognition, the company’s External Affairs Director, Komla Buami, said the awards affirmed Telecel Ghana’s commitment to driving meaningful digital transformation while creating lasting value for society.

“These awards are a strong endorsement of the work Telecel Ghana is doing to drive meaningful digital transformation while creating lasting value for society,” he said.

“They recognise the passion, commitment and purpose behind initiatives that expand financial inclusion, strengthen digital access, support communities and advance sustainability.

“We are honoured by these awards, which reinforce our belief that innovation and responsible business must go hand in hand,” he added.
