Tarkwa-Nsuem MP gifts brand-new VW car to loyal NPP supporter

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsueam Constituency in the Western Region, George Mireku-Duker, has gifted a brand-new VW Golf MSI saloon car to a loyal and dedicated grassroots member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Tarkwa Legislature, who is also a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, gave out the car to the beneficiary, Kwesi Miller, for his sacrifice and commitment to the party during the 2020 electioneering campaign.

At a brief ceremony, Mr. Mireku-Duker described Kwesi Miller as a true patriot, and that words could not describe his contribution and loyalty to the growth, progress, and successes he had chalked as a Legislator over the years, especially during the challenging times in the 2020 campaign.

According to him, Kwesi Miller remained focused and committed, even when his close friends deserted him and joined his opponent to campaign against him and the party during the 2020 electioneering campaign.

According to MP Duker, the beneficiary rejected all the inducement and the offers because of his loyalty to him and the NPP.

“His commitment and loyalty to the NPP, coupled with his long service and dedication to the constituency, is highly commendable,” Duker told the gathering.

“Mr. Miller has contributed immensely to the fortunes of the party in Tarkwa-Nsuaem, and this is a token to recognise his efforts, and to also encourage other members to do the same. He has seen it all; he was with us through thick and thin, and this loyalty cannot go unrecognised.”

It would be recalled that in the 2020 parliamentary election, MP Duker almost lost his seat due to opposition from within his own party.

For instance, a member of his party, Joy Jocelyn, contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat as an independent candidate, coupled with opposition from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) camp.

Joy Jocelyn garnered 3,000 votes, plus the votes from the NDC parliamentary candidate, but Duker was able to retain the seat with 101 votes difference.

Kwesi Miller, on his part, thanked the MP and described the gesture as heart-warming, saying he never expected such a reward.

He advised other party faithful not to allow themselves to be persuaded with any form of inducements, adding that there would be a time all their efforts, commitment, and dedication would be seen and rewarded.

All the documentation of the car was done, including the registration, roadworthy certificate and insurance coverage.
