Sunyani East MP presents 52-seater bus to St James Seminary and SHS

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East in the Bono Region, Mr. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, has presented a 52-seater bus to the St James Seminary Senior High School at Abesim near Sunyani.

The MP said he lobbied the bus from the Ministry of Education, following an appeal by the school.

At a short handing over ceremony, Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh lauded the school’s academic performance in the past years, saying the government would also continue to provide the necessary support.

The MP advised the students to obey instructions of the teachers, remain disciplined, and maintain the excellent performance of the school in the West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh emphasised that St James was among the best Senior High Schools in the country, and entreated the students to regard it as a privilege in gaining admission, and asked them to take their studies seriously.

He urged authorities of the school to ensure regular maintenance of the bus, and called on the drivers to also obey road traffic regulations and signs to prevent accidents.

Reverend Father Herbert Asante Kumi, Rector of the School, expressed appreciation to the MP, government, and the Ghana Education Trust Fund for their continuous support to the school, which had created a conducive environment for academic progress.

He promised to ensure that the bus was utilised for academic purposes, and appealed to the MP to support the school to complete some on-going projects.

Mr. Ansu Kumi, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, advised the students to shun unhealthy lifestyles that could truncate their education and ruin their future.

He said the Municipal Assembly was also working hard to ensure that educational facilities were improved in the Municipality to facilitate effective teaching and learning in schools.

Earlier, in a welcoming address, Rev Fr. Godwin Tawiah, Vice Rector of the school in charge of Academics, appealed to the MP to facilitate the completion of the school’s science laboratory project.
