Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club striker Steven Mukwala has praised midfielder Rashid Nortey for his performance in Kotoko’s 5-1 win over Kotoku Royals.
The win in Week 14 of the 2022-2023 betPawa Ghana Premier League season ended a run of four consecutive draws for the Porcupine Warriors.
Nortey signed for Kotoko recently after leaving Tarkwa based Medeama Sporting Club; he spent six years with the club prior.
The 27 year old and Brazilian striker Matheus Medieros De Souza were picked up by Kotoko in the January transfer window. De Souza was introduced to Kotoko fans at the Baba Yara Stadium against Kotoku Royals.
Speaking in the post game interview after bagging two goals and an assist in the win, Mukwala talked up Nortey’s influence in his debut game.
“A very superb player. Actually they brought him here to help us the players upfront to make sure that we get those through passes those true balls. He is experienced he has played in the league for over five years so the experience is enough to come and add to Kotoko” Mukwala said.
Ugandan striker Mukwala has six goals and five assists in 14 league games in his debut campaign in Ghana’s top flight.
