The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) dedicated Friday, February 14, 2025, National Chocolate Day, celebrating its loyal customers, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The day, set aside to show love to one another, saw SSNIT leveraging the occasion to visit selected loyal customers across the country, “especially startups,” to appreciate their commitment to the Trust.
In commemoration of the National Chocolate Day in Ghana, to promote the cocoa sector in the country, all workers at the selected SMEs were gifted with chocolates, as a means of expressing SSNIT’s love to them for their partnership.
This is not the first time SSNIT is celebrating its customers on National Chocolate Day. The theme for this year’s Customer Appreciation Day is: “My Customer, My Friend.”

While at the facility, SSNIT interacted with workers and management to reassure them of the Trust’s commitment to serving them diligently as managers of their pension contributions.
The visits afforded SSNIT the opportunity to educate workers on the need to ensure that their records with the Trust are correct and their employers are up to date with the contributions on their behalf.
NUNANA
In the Greater Accra region, the Nunana Clinic, a private specialist healthcare facility, located at Tesano, emerged as the beneficiary of the kind gesture within the Accra Industrial Area Branch.

The Manager for the Accra Industrial Area Branch of SSNIT, Nicholas Ofosu, told journalists that the Nunana Clinic was selected because it was a new business and had since its inception met all obligations with SSNIT till date.
“Why did we select Nunana? Nunana is a new company and from the time that they started business, they’ve been very compliant with SSNIT. They have registered all their staff and they pay contributions by the fourteenth of every ensuing month.
“So, they are really very well. So we wanted to use this opportunity to show them appreciation,” Mr. Ofosu said.
APPEAL
Nicholas Ofosu seized the opportunity to appeal to employers to sign onto SSNIT and register their employees to safeguard their pension, emphasising that SSNIT is very beneficial.
He reminded employers and the working class that retirement is inevitable, but the aftermath must be of concern. However, he added that “with SSNIT, we pay pension for life.”
Stressing that the goal for the occasion was to strengthen relationships with stakeholders, he also urged contributors to do well to pay by the fourteenth of every ensuing month.
RECORD
“I have been saying all the time that one of the key things that members have to do is check on their records with SSNIT. Nowadays, a whole lot of changes come up. When you joined the scheme, you were probably not even married, but now you are. So, it is important that at regular intervals you visit SSNIT to update your records,” Mr. Ofosu educated the public.
He explained that the regular records update would enable SSNIT to have “good records on you” to pay the appropriate pension “as you deserve.

ENCOURAGE
The administrator for Nunana Clinic, Eunice Lamptey, expressed the appreciation of the firm to SSNIT for recognising their contribution and visiting them to show love to the organisation.
According to her, the gesture demonstrated that SSNIT noticed the compliance of the organisation, and that served as an encouragement for them to do more.
“We would like to say a very big thank you to SSNIT for this kind gesture they have demonstrated to us. It is really appreciable, and we are looking forward to more of these from them. At least, once you pay your SSNIT contributions, it shows that they actually notice, and when the time is due, they will come and encourage you to do more,” she stated.
She also said that the organisation understands the importance of securing the future of its employees; thus, the motivation to pay the contributions of all their workers.
