Six sanitation offenders have been convicted by a District Magistrate Court for illegally dumping refuse at the Otumfuo Roundabout at Kejetia in Kumasi.

The convicts are Atta Gyamfi, 55; Manuna Ishawu, 24; Veronica Maako, 31; Mariama Iddrisu, 64; Kwadwo Amuzu, 37; and Ebenezer Atakorah, 25.

They were arrested by Metro Guards of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) at the Otumfuo Roundabout around 5:30 a.m. on May 11 for dumping waste illegally. The court, presided over by Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkoh on May 11, 2026, found the suspects guilty on their own plea of guilt to the offence.

Each of them was sentenced to 100 penalty units, the equivalent of GHc1,200 or 10 days’ imprisonment in default. Five of the offenders have since paid the fine, while Ebenezer Atakorah will serve a 10-day prison sentence after failing to pay.
