Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has backed Asante Kotoko to win the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League title, putting $5,000 on his prediction.
The former Bayern Munich and AS Roma centre-back made the bold claim while interacting with football fans after a ‘Monday Stars’ football match in Accra.
Asked which team he expected to finish as champions, Kuffour replied: “Asante Kotoko will win the league.”
Some fans challenged the former Ghana international to put money behind his prediction, initially proposing a GHS 10,000 wager.
Kuffour, however, raised the stakes.
“Let’s make it $5,000. I guarantee you Kotoko will win the league,” he said.
His confidence comes despite Kotoko dropping points on the opening weekend of the season.
The Porcupine Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw by league debutants Debibi United at Golden City Park in Berekum.
Kotoko will be hoping to secure their first victory of the campaign when they host Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in their Matchday Two fixture.
