Samartex Fortress -Revelation Of Our Time

The VIP section

The result of a dream and innovation is the imposing Nsenkyire Stadium, owned by Ghana Premier League side FC Samartex. The uniqueness of the facility is no wonder the tonic for all football followers across the country, if not the globe.

Come to think of the resources put together to complete a splendid architectural football arena with about 99.9% of locally induced materials of pure wood.

The Samartex Fortress story should truly kindle the spirit of CAN DO and the issue of consuming what we have.

Apart from the main pitch, which is also another topic altogether, everything from the stands right to floodlight is made of wood, which is abundant in our part of the world.

No wonder, the stadium was filled to capacity as football fans found their way to every elevation, with the unique floodlights not spared.

The playing field with the stand in the background

It reminds one of the days when the Accra and Kumasi sports stadia hosted the Porcupine Warriors and Phobians respectively.

It should serve as an eye opener for the authorities to adopt the same system at Samreboi, by building such an edifice in every district around the country to attract football fans to the stadia.

Already, Dormaa, Bibiani and Sogakope have developed similar facilities, though with traditional building materials.

At the time we are complaining of fans boycotting the various stadia, the Samartex story has sincerely changed the narrative, as the fans from all indication feel a part of the local team.

It is unfortunate that a place like Tema, an industrial and port city with giant corporate entities, cannot boast of even half the capacity of the shining example by Samartex.

A section of the Pub

Could the assertion that the administrative authorities in Tema some years ago refused the Volta Aluminum Company (Valco) to put up an extraordinary stadium of American standard to befit the status of Tema be true?.

A sizeable sporting facility in Tema to harness talents is long overdue. We must begin to name the organizations, such as Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Tema Department Company (TDC), GHACEM, Steel manufacturing companies and Shipping companies to donate for a good cause.

More grease to your elbows, Samartex FC.
