Residents of Abronye, Kwatre, Adentia and Bofowkrom, all farming communities in the Sunyani West Municipality of Bono Region, are appealing to the government for rehabilitation of their road network.

The farmers complained that the road network linking these communities was in bad condition and affecting their activities.

The previous government started the construction of the road in 2016, but the present government suspended it for auditing, and work has since not resumed.

Mr. Stephen Akrugu, a concerned youth member of the Abronye community, in an interview, said that it was unfortunate that the road not been in a good shape for the past twenty years.

“The road is a major road network which facilitates commercial activities, but it has remained in this poor state for the past twenty years,” he said.

According to him, prominent people like the former First Lady, Theresa Kufuor, Nana Obiri Boahen and the NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, all come from that area, but they had not been able to lobby for attention for the road.

He added that politicians had taken them for granted, because when it was election time, the contractor suddenly appears on the road, but when the election was over, the contractor vanishes.
