Relegation-threatened Verona appoint new coach as they host AC Milan

Hellas Verona have named former player Salvatore Bocchetti as their new head coach after parting ways with Gabriele Cioffi, the relegation-threatened Serie A club said on Thursday.

Verona sacked Cioffi on Tuesday after they suffered their sixth league defeat in a 2-1 loss to Salernitana. The club are 18th in the table with five points after nine matches.

The home team come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat away to Salernitana in their most recent outing, last weekend. Hellas Verona have lost their last four matches and with just one win in their opening nine matches they have suffered a very difficult start to the campaign.

They now face a Milan side that, under the management of Stefano Pioli, were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in midweek in the UEFA Champions League group stages. Despite that, though, the Rossoneri will be expected to win this one quite comfortably.
