Mr. Patrick Yaw Boakye has been elected Presiding Member (PM) for the Pru East District Assembly in the Bono East Region.
The other contestant, Mr. Yussif Sulemana, pulled out in support, and gave approval for Mr. Yaw Boakye to contest unopposed.
Surprisingly, Mr. Sulemana also called on his fellow members to vote massively for Mr. Yaw Boakye to become the next PM for the Assembly.
Seventeen out of the 24 members constituting the Assembly voted for Mr. Yaw Boakye.
Mr. Yaw Boakye, in his acceptance speech, thanked the members for the opportunity given him to serve as a Presiding Member.
He appreciated the members for the confidence reposed in him, and assured them of bringing on board innovative policies to improve their welfare, regardless of one’s political affiliation or tribe.
He entreated the members to work in unity devoid of partisan politics for the progress of the District.
The Pru East District Chief Executive, Alhaji Abdulai Adams, charged the Assembly to exist as a strong team with the interest of the district at heart.
He reminded them that their call to duty was a call to serve with all humility and must not fail the electorate.
