Nkoranza Community Care Home gets assistance

ASA Savings and Loans Limited has made a donation to the PCC Hand in Hand Community Care home for intellectually disabled children at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region.

The items, which included wheelchairs, crotches, diapers, toiletries, mattresses and zeema flame, were worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The presentation formed part of the corporate social responsibility of ASA Savings and Loans towards the inmate at the care centre.

The Divisional Manager in charge of the Northern Division of ASA Savings and Loans Limited, Haiul Hasan, who presented the items, indicated that he was touched by the plight of the inmates at the centre, and expressed the hope that the donation would go a long way to alleviate their plight.

He said physically challenged children deserved special attention and care from everyone, because they were also members of the society, and called on the public to help make life comfortable for such unfortunate children.

Aside from the donation, Mr. Hasan promised to organise free health screening and scholarship packages for the needy students to give back to the community in their operational area.

The Manager of PCC Hand in Hand Community Care, Mr. Samuel Baffo, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the financial institution for the gesture, saying the items would help in the upkeep of the inmates.

According to him, the negative perception by a section of the public towards the physically challenged had denied the centre the needed support from people who might be willing to come to their aid.

The centre, which was established in 1990 with 87 inmates and 54 workers, Mr. Baffo said, was yet to receive any support from the state.
