Port City vs Bechem United

Port City bounced back from their midweek defeat to defending champions Medeama SC with a convincing 3-1 victory over Bechem United at the Daasebre Boamah Darko II Park on Sunday.

The debutants started brightly and their early pressure paid off in the 18th minute when captain Hamza Zakari opened the scoring.

Zakari rose highest to meet Ben Ghartey’s cross with a powerful header, giving the hosts the lead and scoring his second goal of the season.

Port City continued to threaten and doubled their advantage six minutes later. Gideon Waja picked out Gyetuah on the flank, and the winger delivered a good cross into the box for Owusu Ansah, who kept his composure to tap home and put the hosts 2-0 up.

The Hunters pulled one back seven minutes after the restart. Augustine Okrah’s effort took a deflection and resulted in a corner, from which Bechem United capitalised on the ensuing scramble to reduce the deficit.

Port City responded almost immediately, restoring their two-goal advantage in the 54th minute.

Emmanuel Intori drove into the penalty area, beat his marker and laid the ball across to Owusu Ansah, who made no mistake from close range to complete his brace and seal the win for the hosts.

Port City will travel to the capital to face Accra Hearts of Oak in their next fixture, while Bechem United will look to return to winning ways when they host Vision FC.
