The Ghana Police Service has forwarded the docket on an alleged rape case involving the Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, alias Paapaa, to the Attorney-General’s Office for study and advice.

The development follows investigations by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ashanti South Region, based in Bekwai, into a complaint lodged by a 20-year-old Form Two student of the school.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti South Region, the police said the investigative processes had been completed and the docket forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for the next course of action.

Student’s Allegations

According to the police, the student, accompanied by her father, reported the matter to the Obuasi DOVVSU on August 4, 2026.

She alleged that the incident occurred on July 25, 2026, when the headmaster forcibly had sexual intercourse with her at his official bungalow on the school’s campus.

The complainant told police that she had gone to an area near the headmaster’s residence where students dry their clothes to retrieve her dresses when he allegedly asked her to enter his residence to undertake an errand.

According to the police account of her complaint, the headmaster allegedly began caressing and fondling her against her will after she entered the residence.

She further alleged that while she resisted his advances, he dragged her into his bedroom and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

The police statement also said the student alleged that she was given GH¢100 after the incident to keep quiet.

These details form part of the allegations reported to the police and have not been established in court.

Investigations Completed

The police said they immediately commenced investigations after the complaint was lodged.

The investigative processes included a medical examination, reconstruction of the scene, photographs and the collection of witness statements.

Following these steps, the docket was forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for examination and advice.

The Attorney-General’s advice will help determine the appropriate next steps in the case. The police statement did not disclose the contents of any prosecutorial advice or indicate that the suspect had been formally charged.

Police Assure Public

The police assured the public of their commitment to pursuing the case.

However, the statement did not provide further details about the suspect’s current status in the criminal investigation.

The case concerns allegations of rape against a school headmaster by a student under his school’s authority. The allegations remain subject to the criminal justice process, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
