Police Arrest 7, Seize 860 Suspected Tramadol Tablets
The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven persons in separate intelligence-led operations targeting suspected narcotics-related activities in the Ashanti Region.
The arrests were made on Thursday, August 20, 2026, by the IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) at Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim.
At Ejisu, the Police arrested Nana Kwadwo Adu, 43, and Nana Kwame Fella, 48.
Four others, identified as Stephanie Anokye, 23; Roland Anokye, 20; Gideon Owusu, 30; and Grace Fosua, 27, were arrested at Abrepo Junction.
At Atimatim, the team arrested Kofi Opoku, 27, who the Police said was suspected of peddling narcotic substances and had allegedly evaded arrest on previous occasions.
The Police said the operations followed intelligence gathered on suspected narcotic activities in the areas and were aimed at identifying and apprehending persons suspected of possessing, controlling or using narcotic substances.
Items recovered during the operations included quantities of pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, as well as quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg.
The team also recovered 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol suspected to be unregistered drugs, along with an unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency.
According to the Police, all seven suspects are in custody and assisting with investigations.
The investigations are expected to establish the source of the substances, determine the extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement and identify other persons who may be connected to the suspected activities.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has urged the public to continue providing credible information to support efforts to maintain public safety and security.
The Command said it would provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
