Cater Efe recently boxed with Portable

Controversial streamer Cater Efe has challenged Grammy-winning singer Wizkid to a boxing showdown.

Speaking during a recent livestream with Kcee and E-Money, Carter Efe said after dethroning Portable as champion of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, he now wants to fight Wizkid.

He said he would prefer to have Wizkid’s first son Boluwatife Balogun in attendance when he face his father in the ring.

“The person I want to fight with now is Wizkid and I want his son, Boluwatife to be there too. Let him come and collect the championship from me if he is man enough,” he said.

Carter Efe has been beefing Wizkid after he accused the Starboy boss of not supporting him enough when he released a tribute song for him entitled ‘Manchala’ years ago.

Wizkid has largely ignored Carter Efe’s tantrums over the years.

He is yet to react to Cater Efe’s boxing match challenge.

Nana Ama McBrown upset with bloggers

Nana Ama McBrown

Actress Nana Ama McBrown has sparked widespread conversation online after a video showed her confronting bloggers over what she described as intrusive behavior at a high-profile event.

The confrontation occurred during the 60th birthday celebration of businessman, Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Chairman of the Special Group of Companies. The event, held on May 5, 2026, brought together prominent figures from Ghana’s entertainment, business, and political scenes.

A viral clip from the event shows McBrown addressing a group of bloggers who had gathered around her with cameras. In the video, the actress expressed frustration over what she sees as a one-sided relationship between celebrities and bloggers.

She argued that while bloggers frequently capture and share content of celebrities at events, they often fail to support their commercial work.

“You see me selling American fresh detergent and McBrown sunflower. When you see me at Kantamanto and Kejetia selling, you see the videos on social media, but you don’t repost them,” she said.

Tensions escalated when some bloggers attempted to interrupt her, prompting a sharp response.

“You people should shut up! When we spend money to dress well and look good to attend programs, then you want to ‘enter our noses’ with your cameras,” she said.

McBrown further warned that she would not tolerate similar behavior in the future.

“If you cannot repost my work, this should be the last time you bloggers swarm me at an event. Next time, I would hit someone,” she added.

The incident has drawn mixed reactions online. Many have praised the actress for speaking out about privacy and respect, while others believe the situation could have been handled more calmly.

Ivory Coast dissolves electoral body amid criticism

Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara

Ivory Coast’s government has dissolved the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) after sustained opposition criticism over its handling of elections.

“In view of the reservations expressed about this institution as well as the criticism it has faced, the Council of Ministers has decided to dissolve it,” Communications Minister Amadou Coulibaly said at a news conference after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Coulibaly said the move was aimed at paving the way for a new election management system but stopped short of naming a replacement for the CEI.

“I cannot tell you at this stage what this new mechanism will be, which will certainly be discussed and put in place at the government level,” he said.

The aim, he said, is “to ensure in a lasting way the organisation of peaceful elections by creating greater trust and reassuring all Ivorians and the political class”.

Opposition parties have regularly accused the commission of lacking independence, saying its membership was aligned with the ruling coalition.

Authorities denied such allegations.

The CEI, created in 2001, has overseen all of Ivory Coast’s elections since the end of military rule in 2000. Its main role was to ensure the strict application of the electoral code.

However, it has been at the centre of nearly every major electoral dispute, including the 2010 presidential election, whose contested outcome triggered months of deadly violence.

Ivory Coast last held a presidential election in October when President Alassane Ouattara won a fourth term with nearly 90 percent of the vote after several prominent opposition figures were barred from running, prompting criticism from opposition and civil society groups over the inclusiveness of the process.

UK immigration officer among two men guilty of working for Chinese intelligence

0
Chi Leung Wai misused his access to the Home Office computer system

A UK immigration officer has been found guilty of working for Chinese intelligence as part of a “shadow policing operation”.

Chi Leung “Peter” Wai, 38, used his access to the main immigration database to track Hong Kong dissidents based in the UK.

He was found guilty under the National Security Act of assisting a foreign intelligence service alongside Chung Biu “Bill” Yuen, 65, who was initially his contact with the Hong Kong authorities.

Wai was also found guilty of misconduct in public office.

The jury could not agree on a charge against both men of foreign interference by forcing entry into the home of an alleged fraud suspect originally from Hong Kong in West Yorkshire.

The prosecution said it would not be seeking a retrial.

Wai started working as a Border Force officer at Heathrow Airport in December 2020, which gave him access to a vast database of information about foreign nationals in the UK.

He searched it on his days off and sick days, earning money on the side by tracking Hong Kongers who had fled pro-democracy crackdowns for his Chinese contacts.

But he had been providing information on dissidents before then, referring to them in messages as “cockroaches”.

Yuen became his contact with Chinese authorities. A former Hong Kong police officer, he worked as the office manager of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in London.

Israel bombs southern Lebanon after targeting Hezbollah commander in Beirut

Rescuers work at the site of an Israeli strike

Israel has continued to pound southern Lebanon, killing one person and injuring several others, according to Lebanese state-run media, a day after it targeted a commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

A house in the town of Ain Baal, in the Tyre District of southern Lebanon, was hit in an air strike, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported on Thursday.

The Israeli military also carried out three air strikes on the town of Dibbin in the Marjayoun District in the south of the country.

Al Mayadeen English reported that Israeli fighter jets carried out three attacks on the city of Nabatieh, also in southern Lebanon.

The attacks came as Israel issued new evacuation orders for three southern towns — Deir al-Zahrani, Bafroa and Habush — after accusing Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire. Residents were told to stay at least one kilometre (0.6 miles) away from the towns.

The bombardment comes a day after Israel claimed it killed a commander of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force on Wednesday during air strikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut, marking the first strike on the Lebanese capital since the ceasefire came into effect in mid-April.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he and Defence Minister Israel Katz had instructed the army to carry out the attack.

“Radwan terrorists are responsible for shooting at Israeli settlements and harming [Israeli army] soldiers. No terrorist has immunity – Israel’s long hand will catch every enemy and murderer,” Netanyahu said in a post on Telegram.

Fears of renewed Gaza war as Hamas disarmament talks stall

Hamas fighters

Ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas have stalled, and Gaza risks sliding back into war.

This week an Israeli air strike killed the son of Hamas’s leader and chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, and Palestinian sources confirmed to the BBC that the two sides had reached a deadlock in negotiations.

Israeli media reports suggest Israel is preparing to resume fighting in the Gaza Strip because of the impasse and Hamas’s refusal to give up its weapons.

“We understood, everyone understood that Hamas would not disarm, and they have followed through on their intentions,” Michael Eisenberg, an adviser to the Israeli prime minister, told the BBC, describing Hamas as “an unrepentant terrorist group”.

“Nobody in Israel wants to go back to war,” he said, but added “all options are on the table right now.”

Citing unnamed security sources, Israel’s Channel 12 News has reported that Washington may give Israel the “green light” to resume “operations”. One of the main options it says Israel is considering is to expand the so-called “Yellow Line” marking some 60% of Gaza that has remained under full Israeli military control during the ceasefire. Locals say this is already happening.

Israel insists that Hamas’s approach to disarmament is in breach of the ceasefire deal which came into effect on 10 October. However, Hamas insists that Israel is violating the agreement by failing to meet its humanitarian commitments and continuing deadly attacks.

Tips for coping with pollen and seasonal allergens

0
Pollen and seasonal allergens

The Sun is shining, the flowers are blooming – and, if you’re like millions of other people around the world, you may be a sniffling, hacking, runny-eyed mess.

Globally, some 400 million people suffer from allergic rhinitis: a condition that occurs when the nasal passages are irritated by airborne allergens, including pollen. When this occurs seasonally, it’s called hay fever.

Some tips for coping with pollen and seasonal allergens are:

Avoid nasal decongestants

Not all nasal sprays are the same – and while many of us turn to decongestant sprays for relief from a blocked nose, this can backfire.

Decongestant sprays (which use ingredients like oxymetazoline, phenylephrine or xylometazoline) work by constricting the blood vessels, shrinking nasal tissue so you can breathe better. But with prolonged use – generally speaking, more than five days – blood vessels can become dependent on this effect and, when the drug isn’t applied, swell too much. That leads to even more congestion (“rebound congestion“) and, often, the unsuspecting patient starts using even more. There is even a danger of long-term damage and dependence.

Start your treatment before allergy season begins

Don’t wait until you feel symptoms to start using your nasal spray: starting a few weeks before the season begins has the best outcomes. In one trial, hay fever sufferers who started using intranasal corticosteroids four weeks before pollen season did better than those who started using the spray only on seeing symptoms, for example.

Apply it regularly – even on days you don’t have symptoms

“When people say [these medications] are ineffective, it’s usually for one of two reasons,” says Durham. “Either they’re not taking them properly, or they’re not taking them regularly.”

Use your treatment at the same time each day, whether or not you are experiencing symptoms. It’s also important to follow dosing instructions: the trial of combined corticosteroid-antihistamine spray found the greatest symptom reduction in those who used it twice – rather than once – a day.

Make sure you are properly administrating nasal sprays…

Even when we choose an effective nasal spray, many of us are applying it wrong. A common error is to jam the bottle as high up in our nose as it will go, tilt our heads back, spray, and then sniff – all of which directs the medicine towards the back of the throat. But it needs to be in the nose to work.

Instead, lift the nostril and insert the spray so that it is aimed toward the ear on the same side (you may find it easier to get the right angle using the opposite hand). It should only be about a quarter inch (6mm) inside. Then tilt your head forward slightly and spray. Try not to blow your nose after. This allows the medicine to go where it’s most effective and stay there – rather than being cleared out immediately.

. …and eye drops

Many people put their heads back and try to drop the medicine right on top of their eye. This often backfires, with the liquid spilling out immediately (or not spreading across the eyes surface).

Instead, tilt your head to the side, then drop the medicine into the inner corner and blink, Scadding and Durham advise. This distributes it more evenly across the eye.

Reduce any triggers

Beyond medications, be mindful about your exposure to potential allergens. Keeping windows closed – even, unfortunately, at night – can help, as can wearing sunglasses or a mask when you go outside. It’s also important to wash well (ideally, taking a shower) when you come in from spending any time outside; otherwise, allergens like pollen cling to your hair and face, where they can not only continue to irritate you, but can transfer to your furniture and bedding, allergists say.

If you are still suffering, don’t delay seeking help

Many of us shrug off hay fever as just part of the springtime package. But this is unnecessary and, worse, can be harmful. Both short- and long-term, it affects our quality of liferespiratory systemsleep, and, in children, academic performance. “It gets dismissed frequently as, ‘Oh, it’s just a runny nose,'” says Barrie Cohen, a paediatric allergist in New Jersey, US and author of a 2023 review on allergic rhinitis in children. “But if you’re suffering, even for three months out of the year, that’s significant.”

If you are managing your symptoms properly and still find that you’re struggling, see your GP (family doctor). In some cases, it may not be hay fever at all, but asthma or another respiratory illness.

Even when it is hay fever, people might benefit from other treatments – such as allergen immunotherapy – that can help reduce even severe symptoms longer-term, so that they can finally enjoy the summer free of their usual suffering.

BECE malpractices: WAEC arrests four teachers, invigilator

0
BECE candidates writing the exams in Accra

Four teachers, an invigilator and a community member have been arrested by security agencies for their alleged involvement in examination malpractices during the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Central Region.

Dr Juliet Dufie Otame, the Regional Director of Education, made this known in an interview in Cape Coast on Thursday.

She did not disclose the examination centres or the names of the suspects or the nature of their offences, but however, confirmed that they had been handed over to the police for further investigations.

She expressed concern that despite intensified supervision and invigilation at examination centres by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and West Africa Examination Council, incidents of malpractices continued unabated.

Dr Otame explained that some teachers who engaged in examination malpractices did so purely by emotional attachment and sympathy towards their students and not for monetary gains.

She warned that the directorate, in collaboration with WAEC, would continue to intensify security surveillance in identified hotspot areas across the region as plainclothes security personnel were deployed to monitor the various examination centres.

Dr Otame, therefore warned those engaged in the nefarious act to stop because anyone found culpable would face the full rigours of the law to help halt the phenomenon and safeguard the integrity of the examination.

Following Jesus

0
Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Executive Director, Salt and Light Ministries

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.’” — Matthew 16:24

Introduction

We can all become followers of Jesus Christ. This invitation is open to everyone, no matter who we are or where we come from. Today, people who follow Jesus are often called Christians. However, in the beginning, Jesus’ followers simply called themselves disciples. A disciple is a learner, someone who follows, listens, and grows.

The first disciples learned something life changing. They discovered that Jesus was not only a man; He is also the Son of God. They learned that they could come to God through Him. They learned that they could trust Him and commit their whole lives to Him.

They learned that if they believed in Him, He would forgive their sins, guide them through this life, and at the end of life, take them to be with Him in heaven.

Becoming a follower of Jesus is a big step. It is the most important decision we can ever make.

The experience is different for everybody. Some people commit themselves to Jesus publicly, perhaps at a Christian meeting. Others commit themselves to Jesus privately, in a quiet moment. Of course, people who do this will want to join other believers and identify with them in worship and Christian living.

Sometimes people feel joyful, relieved, or full of praise. At other times, some people do not feel anything special, even though they have been honest with God and sincere in their commitment.

However they do it, they all share one thing. They have made the greatest choice of all. They have chosen Jesus. They have chosen eternal life.

The Bible says: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).
“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).

Assurance in Christ Even When Doubts Come

Once we have accepted Jesus, life can still bring hard questions. The Christian life is not always easy.As time goes by, we may begin to doubt our decision. Many people experience doubts at some point. However, it is not always wise to trust our feelings, because feelings can change.

God’s promises are far more trustworthy and unchanging.

The Bible gives us confidence: “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:12–13).

Also,“He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13–14).

And again,“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:16).

These scripture remind us that our salvation does not depend on how we feel, but on what God has promised. His Word is sure. His truth stands forever.

A New Life and New Priorities

As a follower of Jesus, a Christian has a new set of priorities. A person who is in a right relationship with God begins to desire to live the way God wants.

The Bible says:“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

This does not mean that life becomes perfect immediately, but it does mean that there is a new direction. There is a new desire to please God, to do what is right, and to walk in His ways.

The things that once seemed normal may begin to change. The heart begins to respond differently. This is the work of God within us.

Living Each Day as a Follower of Jesus

Following Jesus is not just a one time decision. It is a daily walk.

Jesus said:“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23).

This means choosing each day to live according to His will. Let us be honest. If living life in Christ’s way is something worth doing, then it requires effort and self discipline. It requires intentional living. The Bible encourages us:“Train yourself toward godliness” (1 Timothy 4:7).

Those who have been following Jesus for a long time often discover that one important discipline is to spend time alone with God each day. This is where strength is renewed and faith is built.

Spending Time with God Each Day

There are no strict rules about how to do this, because the Christian life is a relationship, not a set of rigid instructions. However, here are some helpful guidelines:

  • Plan a definite time
Some people find mornings best when their minds are fresh and rested. Others find time at night or during the day. Choose what works for you.The Bible says:“In the morning… I will direct my prayer to You” (Psalm 5:3).
  • Be still and aware of God’s presence
Take a moment to relax and recognize that God is with you, in your heart and in your mind.“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
  • Read a portion of the Bible
Begin with a passage and allow God to speak to you through His Word.“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
  • Reflect on what you read
Think carefully about the message. Is there a warning? Is there encouragement? Is there something God wants you to do?“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22).
  • Spend time in prayer
Thank God for loving you and calling you to belong to Him. Talk to Him about your day. Ask for help where you need it. Tell Him about the people you are concerned for. Bring your worries to Him.“Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Growing in Your Walk with Christ

Spiritual growth takes time. It is a journey, not a moment. As we continue to walk with God, we begin to grow in understanding, in faith, and in character. The Bible says:“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

God is at work in us, shaping us day by day into the image of Christ.

Conclusion

Following Jesus is the greatest decision anyone can make. It brings new life, new hope, and a lasting relationship with God.

There may be challenges along the way. There may be questions, struggles, and moments of doubt. But God remains faithful.

His promises are sure. His love is constant. His grace is sufficient.

The Bible reminds us:“Whoever follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12).

Stay close to Him.
Trust His Word.
Walk with Him daily.

And you will experience the fullness of life that comes from following Jesus.

Stay blessed!
