Patoranking returns to his roots with new single, ‘No Jonze’

0
Patoranking

Nigerian superstar Patoranking is back with ‘No Jonze’, a street-rooted, festival-friendly single and the lead track from his forthcoming fifth studio album.

The song reconnects the singer with Galala, the percussive, dance-led sound that grew out of Ajegunle and helped shape his musical identity.

‘No Jonze’ blends late 1990s and early 2000s Galala energy with modern Afro-dancehall.

The title borrows Lagos street slang and turns it into a mantra that urges grind and focus, a reminder to underdogs to hold their ground and not fumble opportunity.

The record nods to the raw, communal feel of the genre while positioning Lagos street culture in a wider global conversation about contemporary Afrobeats and dancehall influences.

The official video was shot in Ajegunle and directed by Director K, who has worked with artists such as Rema, Wizkid, and Davido.

Patoranking shares the screen with Galala figures Marvelous Benjy and Allen B.

The visuals recreate 1990s Lagos city vibes, showcase the Galala dance at its liveliest, and include a street mural honouring local forebears like Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh, Oritse Femi, Baba Fryo, African China and Danfo Drivers.

Patoranking’s career has been built on a fusion of Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall, and he first broke through with songs such as ‘Alubarika’.

He has performed across more than 50 countries at venues ranging from London’s O2 Arena to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and at global events, including the FIFA World Cup Fan Festival in Qatar.

His catalog has accumulated more than two billion streams worldwide.

Offstage, Patoranking runs the Patoranking Foundation, which has supported over 5,000 young people, funded more than 250 scholarships across the primary, secondary, and university levels, launched tech scholarships, and opened a community football turf in Lagos.

He also works on youth innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives as part of UN development partnerships.

‘No Jonze’ marks a deliberate return to the streets and sounds that shaped Patoranking. It points toward an album that, based on this single, will explore local subcultures and street rhythms while aiming for global reach.

Why Is My Vision Blurry?

Blurry Vision

What Is Blurry Vision?

When your vision is blurry, it becomes difficult for you to see sharply or clearly.

You may find yourself blinking, squinting, or rubbing your eyes to gain a clearer view. You might have blurry vision as a result of aging or the need for new glasses. But it can be a sign of other health problems, too.

Often, treatment for these conditions will clear up your blurred vision. Remember, though, that sudden changes to your eyesight aren’t normal. If they happen, see your doctor right away.

Blurry Vision Causes

The causes of blurred vision fall into four general categories:

Retinal. There’s a problem with your retina, the structure at the back of your eye that senses light.

Clouding. The parts of your eye that light passes through to reach the retina are normally transparent. These include the cornea, lens, and jellylike substance that fills your eyeball, called the vitreous humor. If any of those things is clouded for some reason, your vision will be blurry.

Nerve issues. The path that carries messages from your eyes to your brain is disrupted in some way.

Refractive errors. These refer to problems in the way the light is focused on your retina.

Blurry vision in one eye

Blurriness that affects only one eye could signal a serious medical condition. You should talk to a doctor right away. This could be a sign of a stroke, brain tumor, detached retina, or other problem that requires immediate action.

Blurry Vision and Diabetes

Diabetes can damage your vision over time. It’s important for your sight to manage your diabetes and have regular eye exams to catch problems early.

Diabetic retinopathy

This is an eye disease caused by diabetes. Over time, high blood sugar can damage the tiny blood vessels in your retina, the part of your eye that senses light. That can lead to swelling in a part of the retina called the macula, new and unwanted blood vessels growing in the eye, and bleeding inside the eye.

Along with blurry vision, diabetic eye disease also may cause:

  • “Floating” spots in your field of vision
  • Permanent loss of vision

Early treatment is the best way to avoid permanent damage. Learn more about the symptoms of diabetic retinopathy.

Blurry Vision and Stroke

One of the key signs that you’re having a stroke is a sudden, painless change in eyesight. You might have blurry or double vision. A stroke can affect the part of your brain that controls your vision.

Call 911 right away if you have either of these changes or other warning signs of stroke:

Stroke warning signs

  • Dizziness
  • Face drooping
  • Loss of balance
  • Slurred speech or other problems speaking clearly
  • Weakness or numbness in one arm
  • Severe headache
  • Disorientation

Blurry Vision and Migraine

migraine is more than a horrible headache; it’s a neurological disorder. There are many other symptoms that you might have with the pain, including blurry vision and sensitivity to light. You may feel these signs even before a migraine starts, and they may last until it’s over. In fact, blurry vision can be an early warning sign of migraine. It often occurs in what’s called the “prodrome” phase, an early part of a migraine attack when your headache hasn’t started yet.

Migraine aura

More dramatic changes to your eyesight during a migraine are called an aura. They can include:

  • Loss of part or all of your vision for a little while (usually 30 minutes or less)
  • Seeing flashes of light
  • Seeing wavy lines or spots

To solve these problems, you’ll need to work with your doctor to treat your migraines and keep them from starting. Learn more about migraine headaches with aura.

Match Day Seven of the Ghana Premier League Set to Deliver Thrills

0
Mizack Afriyie, Aduana Stars

As the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League enters match day seven, the competition is beginning to take shape. Teams are gradually finding their rhythm, while others continue to search for consistency in what has already been an unpredictable start to the campaign.
Every point now matters as clubs seek to close the gap on the early pace-setters or move away from the danger zone.

With pressure mounting on underperforming sides and confidence soaring among the in-form teams, this weekend’s fixtures promise plenty of drama, intensity and excitement across all venues.
Below are the Match Day Seven Previews;

Hearts Host Bibiani Gold Stars
Accra Hearts of Oak welcome last season’s champions, Bibiani Gold Stars, to the Accra Sports Stadium in one of the standout fixtures of the weekend.
The Phobians have shown great defensive organisation this season, but continue to struggle in front of goal. Despite creating several chances, their conversion rate remains a concern.

Bibiani Gold Stars players

With home support behind them, head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani will be hoping his side can turn their solid defending into a much-needed victory against an in-form Bibiani Gold Stars side.
Bibiani Gold Stars, on the other hand, are still searching for the consistency that made them champions last season.

With just three wins from their last five matches, Coach Maxwell Konadu knows his side must respond quickly to keep their title hopes alive.
Having won two of their last five meetings with Hearts, Bibiani Gold Stars will be full of confidence going into this encounter.

Hearts of Oak, however, have not beaten Gold Stars recently and will be looking to turn the tables around. With the backing of their passionate home fans, this promises to be a must-watch game.

Samartex face Hohoe United

Samartex will look to maintain their impressive form as they host Hohoe United in match day seven of the 2025/26 season.
Samartex have quietly gone about their business, proving to be a tough side to beat this season. Their structured defense and organised midfield have earned them valuable points and they’ll be counting on their home form to deliver another strong result.

Karela United’s defensive midfielder Abdulai Zakari

Hohoe United, however, have had a roller-coaster performance and need to improve to keep their survival hopes in the top flight alive. Although they have been scoring, the rate at which they concede goals is worrying. Currently sitting 10th on the league log, Hohoe United will be hoping to secure all three points in this crucial encounter.
With this being their first-ever meeting, both teams will be eager to clinch a win and assert their dominance over the other

Heart of Lions host Holy Stars
Heart of Lions will welcome Holy Stars to Kpando in what promises to be a closely contested affair.

Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul Karim

The Lions have impressed so far, showing a blend of creativity and composure in attack. Although they haven’t won in their last three matches, they will look to return to winning ways in front of their home fans. Lions have not lost a home game this season and will aim to extend their fine run while keeping pressure on the top teams.

Sitting bottom of the league log, Holy Stars will be desperate to secure their first win of the season. Their recent loss came against newly promoted Swedru All Blacks. Holy Stars have been wasteful in front of goal, failing to score in any of their matches so far.

They will be eager to find the back of the net for the first time this season and possibly score more in this encounter. Their defense has also been shaky, conceding six goals in five matches.

Kotoko Set for CAF Confederation Cup Duty

The Porcupine Warriors, Asante Kotoko, will not be in league action this weekend as they travel to Morocco to face Wydad in the CAF Confederation Cup. Kotoko will be hoping to keep their quest to qualify for the group stage alive, despite suffering a home defeat in the first leg.

Feature: And Now … Resurrected United Party (Plus)

0
Africanus Owusu Ansah (Hot Issues)

“Fight for the things that you care about. But do it in a way that will lead others to join you” – Ruth Bader Ginsburg

UNITED PARTY, has come into being – from the ashes of ‘Movement for Change’. The plethora of fake, money-grabbing prophets of Ghana could not foretell, but the signs were there… and we saw it (from the crystal ball).

On an episodic Thursday, October 16, 2025 the chrysalis had metamorphosed from pupa to an adult butterfly, Alan Kyerematen announced at the launch of the UP+ that the party was going to break the political duopoly and usher in a “golden age of business and prosperity.”

The chairman Boniface Abubakar Saddique, Hopeson Adorye, Lawyer Buabeng Asamoah, Solomon Owusu… were there.

Alan stated: “this new dawn will end the culture of winner takes all and bring economic transformation that translates into massive job opportunities … Some of our best minds have been sidelined because of the nature of our politics…”

He unveiled the party’s vision: Vision 2040: The Paradise Project “that seeks to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040. The mission of the party, he added, is to build one united, peaceful, secure and prosperous country, in which every Ghanaian will have the chance to realize his full potential whether in carpentry, medicine or engineering with priority to the youth, women and the vulnerable in society.

UP+ is to be anchored on integrity, ethical leadership, discipline, meritocracy, and pledged to promote tolerance, patriotism, entrepreneurship, respect for the rule of law and encourage decent political discourse in the media space.

As a “Centre-Party” the party would bridge the ideological gap between the Centre – left National Democratic Congress and the Centre – right New Patriotic Party.

The “Great Transformational Plan” (GTP) detailing strategies for stabilizing the macro-economy, reducing national debt and promoting industrialization will position Ghana as “Africa’s new manufacturing hub by 2040.”

The UP+ intends to prioritize agriculture, education and health systems. There is a renewed commitment to Pan-Africanism, and the official colour is yellow. (Ghana’s wealth); Black (Black Star of Africa); White (Purity and ethical leadership).

Alan says: “the United Party is the future of our country.  It is 68 years (from October 13, 1957) that the United Party (U.P.) was formed from the National Liberation Movement (NLM) – Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia’s party, with the backing of Baffour-Akoto, Asantehene’s linguist; Tolon Naa, J. A. Braimah and Dombo-led Northern Peoples Party; Ga Shifimokpee (Ga Standfast Society) led by Attoh Quarshie, Ashie Nikoi and Dzenkle Dzewu, S. G. Antori Togoland Congress, (Northern Ewe); Akpaloo’s Anlo Youth Party (Southern Ewe); Bankole’s Muslim Association Party (MAP), after the Nkrumah’s  Avoidance of Discriminate act, 1957.

Heraclitus of Ephesus the weeping Greek Philosopher, in 530 BC noted: “Change is the only constant in life”. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was invited from America to come and be the Secretary General to the United Gold Coast Convention in December 1947. In 1949, he had broken away from Paa Grant’s U.G.C.C. to form his own party, the Convention People’s Party (C.P.P.).

The ideological rift emerged with UGCC seeking “self-government in the shortest possible time” and the CPP insisting on “self-government now”. The Elitist UGCC sought self-government through a gradual, constitutional means, operating within the existing structures.

The down-to-earth C.P.P. used “positive action” the working class and the verandah boys” and ordinary farmers, mass demonstrations and boycotts to force the hand of imperialist Britain to grant Ghana’s independence.

Then came a series of events, including assassination attempts on Dr. Nkrumah, (Ametewee, Kulungu).

Victor Owusu, R.R. Amponsah, Joe Appiah resigned from CPP to join the U.P., just as J. H. Owusu Acheampong, A. A. Munufie, and Justice Annan dejected from U.P. to join the N.D.C.

The one-time NPP Chairman, Frederick Worsemao Blay, one-time first Deputy Speaker of Parliament and two-term CPP Member of Parliament for Ellembelle said in February 2014: “look, I am not a newcomer in NPP, I have fully registered as a member of the party. fully paid up one for that matter”. I joined the NPP… Today. I drink, speak, eat and think NPP… in politics, people can switch camps at any time.”

K.A. Gbedemah who fought and got Nkrumah elected to the Legislative Council in February 1951 and became the first to welcome Nkrumah on his release from James Fort Prison, became the Finance Minister (helped in building the Akosombo Dam) his relationship with Nkrumah was worsening and he contemplated Nkrumah’s overthrow, saying: “I would be sorry to have to do it but this country has had enough of Nkrumah’s arrogance, whims and madness”. After the 1966 coup, he formed and led the National Alliance of Liberal (NAL) unto the 1969 general election.

He later flirted with people like General Afrifa, R. R. Amponsah, Prof. Adu Boahen, Akufo-Addo becoming leader of the Peoples Movement for Freedom and Justice.

Dr. Omane Boamah, member of NPP TESCON; Sam George working for NPP Vice President Aliu Mahama… OR Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, wife of the founder of NDC Flt. Lt. J.J. Rawlings breaking away from the NDC after the Sunyani Congress where she challenged the incumbent, John Fiifi Atta Mills, and losing, went on to form the National Democratic Party (NDP) in 2012 and held its First National Congress at Baba Yara Sports Stadium Kumasi on October 13, 2012.

Remember the speech in which Rawlings stated that his “former party” had “lost the moral high ground” and promised a “proper revolution”!

Yaw Buabeng Asamoah says “UP will come to power” but does not state when” 2028? 2032? 2036? …. and Solomon Owusu reveals a chilling: “Akufo-Addo hated Alan so much” …! The UP members, most of whom are from NPP reveal what they detest about NPP: arrogance; electing executive members in the night, corruption (you would not believe the NPP would steal even a pesewa of the nation’s wealth, but hear the revelations…); the fear in the well-documented “Agyapadie” …In spite of our tremendous contribution to this  Ghana entity, Okyeman has not been credited with the appropriate awe and grandeur that we rightly deserve in recent times.

“Currently, with Nana in total control of the whole entity of Ghana, we have a duty to ensure that we take over the commanding heights of the essential fabric of the country, in order that even in the event  Nana leaves the scene after the mandatory eight years, the sons and daughters of Okyeman would be firmly secured and such control, both financially and economically, that we can no longer be ignored in the battle to control the destiny of Ghana…

“Although the Asante group within the current NPP is gearing itself to take over the party after Nana’s tenure in 2024. With hard work, we could work to pass the mantle over to a non-Akan person, preferably from the North, under whose Presidency we could secure the maturity of our take-over project…” we cannot confirm the author nor even the origin of this document, but Dr. Joshua Zaato (a Lecturer at The University Of Ghana’s Political Science Department) discrediting of the UP’s  significance, argues the ultimate objective of this party is not a win power,

This is a party that was conceived by the hatred and dislike of Bawumia, not by any political ideology, when you leave your main political party, you go somewhere you perish because people see you as selfish, greedy and unprincipled….this new UP will have zero and an infinitesimal impact on the NDC-NPP duopoly….. A lecturer in Political science speaking like this …….? We wish we had not studied Political Science.

The interim Chairman, Boniface Abubakar thinks: “we are not going to be a seasonal party. The third force you’ve been seeing were seasonal parties, and they were not visible on the ground…”.

Rubio warns against West Bank annexation after Israel’s parliament advances move

0
US secretary of state, Marco Rubio

The US secretary of state has said a move by Israel’s parliament towards annexation of the occupied West Bank would threaten Washington’s plan to end the conflict in Gaza.

“That’s not something we can be supportive of right now,” Marco Rubio said before leaving for Israel as part of US efforts to shore up a fragile ceasefire deal.

In an apparent attempt to embarrass Israel’s prime minister, far-right politicians took the symbolic step of giving preliminary approval to a bill granting Israel authority to annex the West Bank.

At the end of his own trip to Israel, US Vice-President JD Vance said: “If it was a political stunt, it was a very stupid political stunt and I personally take some insult.”

“The West Bank is not going to be annexed by Israel. The policy of the Trump administration is that the West Bank will not be annexed by Israel,” he told reporters at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport on Thursday.”

The Palestinians claim the West Bank – occupied by Israel since 1967 – as part of a hoped-for independent state.

Last year, the International Court of Justice – the UN’s top court – said Israel’s occupation was illegal under international law.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously spoken in support of annexing West Bank land but has not advanced this due to the risk of alienating the US – Israel’s most important ally – and Arab countries which have built relations with Israel after decades of enmity.

Ultra-nationalists in Netanyahu’s governing coalition have repeatedly called for Israel to annex the West Bank outright, though the bill was put forward by MPs outside the government.

EU set to endorse deal to turn frozen Russian assets into support for Ukraine

0
The price tag of Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery has been put at well above $486bn

European leaders aim to endorse controversial plans to use Russian frozen assets to support Ukraine at a meeting in Brussels on Thursday.

The unprecedented proposal for what the EU has dubbed a “reparations loan” – would see Kyiv receive €140bn (£121bn) worth of frozen Russian state assets currently held by Euroclear, a Belgium-based financial institution.

The plan has been months in the making, partly due to the legal complexities surrounding it, as well as concerns from member states about upsetting global financial stability.

Belgium in particular has been reluctant to back using the frozen assets, as it is nervous about having to shoulder any potential consequences should Russia legally challenge Euroclear.

Russia has reacted angrily to any suggestions that the EU could use its money.

“Any confiscatory initiatives from Brussels will inevitably result in a painful response,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

For the EU, the problem of how to continue to support Kyiv’s struggle against Russian aggression has become more urgent since US support for Ukraine has dwindled.

As of July, EU member states have provided about €177.5bn (£154bn) in financial support for Ukraine. But in the absence of any progress towards a ceasefire deal, Ukraine will need more money as Russia’s full-scale war approaches its fifth year.

The price tag of Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery is also estimated by the UN and World Bank to be well above $486bn (£365bn; €420bn).

About €210bn (£182bn) in Russian investments was frozen by the EU when Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

The biggest share – some €185bn – is sitting in Euroclear, a clearing house for financial transactions in Brussels which operates under EU jurisdiction.

Trump says Putin talks ‘don’t go anywhere’ as he imposes new sanctions

0
Putin and Donald Trump

The US has announced new sanctions targeting Russia’s two largest oil companies in an effort to pressure Moscow to negotiate a peace deal in Ukraine.

The announcement came one day after US President Donald Trump said a planned meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Budapest would be shelved indefinitely.

“Every time I speak to Vladimir, I have good conversations and then they don’t go anywhere,” Trump said.

While the economic impact to Russia is likely to be minimal, it represents a major shift in Trump’s foreign policy, having previously said he would not impose sanctions until European nations ceased buying Russian oil. The Kremlin said Russia was “immune” to the sanctions.

The development came just days after the UK sanctioned the same two Russian oil companies. European Union countries have also issued their own new sanctions that ban the import of Russian liquefied natural gas from January 2027.

Trump had repeatedly threatened tougher US measures against Moscow, but has avoided them until now in hopes of brokering a peace deal in the three-and-a-half year long invasion.

His administration has sought to cast the US as a somewhat neutral mediator between the two warring nations, after years of full-throated support for Ukraine from his predecessor, Joe Biden.

But the US president has grown increasingly exasperated with the Kremlin over its failure to move forward with negotiations.

The sanctions are also something Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, has been urging for months. He said they were a “good signal” from the US, adding that a ceasefire was possible if other nations applied more pressure on Russia.

Another French museum robbery sees 2,000 gold and silver coins stolen

0
The treasure on display at Maison des Lumières is part of the city's private collection

Around 2,000 gold and silver coins worth around €90,000 (£78,000; $104,000) were stolen during a raid at another French museum – just hours after the audacious theft of some of the French crown jewels at the Louvre in Paris.

The incident happened at a museum dedicated to French philosopher Denis Diderot in Landres, north-eastern France on Sunday night.

When the Maison des Lumières (House of Enlightenment) opened on Tuesday, workers noticed a smashed display case and raised the alarm, officials said. The coins were selected with “great expertise”, a statement to French media from the local authority said.

It is the latest in a recent string of heists at cultural institutions across France.

The stolen coins date from between 1790 and 1840 and are part of the city’s private collection, after being discovered in 2011 during renovation work at the building that now houses the museum, according to local media.

Last month, criminals broke into Paris’s Natural History Museum, making off with six gold nuggets worth around €1.5m.

We’re stronger than before –Enugu PDP vows after governor’s defection to APC

0

The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has vowed that despite recent defections from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, it is poised to win all elections in the 2027 general elections.

DAILY POST recalls that the State Governor, Peter Mbah, alongside executive council members and other political functionaries, defected to the APC last week.

Addressing journalists at the PDP state office, the Acting State Chairman, Steve Oruruo, said that many people remain in the party while others have indicated interest in joining and helping to win elections in the state.

Oruruo reassured the people of Enugu State that PDP remains very much alive and more resolute than ever, committed to rebuilding the party despite the governor’s defection.

According to him, the party has commenced galvanising its members to stay united and motivated, ensuring that the defection of some will not lead to the capitulation of the party.

“This is not the only state where a governor left the party and the party remained firm. We have canvassed for credible conventions and legitimate primaries with quality candidates capable of drawing support. The PDP in Enugu State is more ready than ever to join forces with anyone interested in partnering with the party to ensure it remains strong.

“We want the world to know that we are unmitigated, unwavering, and unalloyed in our commitment to staying firm and solid. We are undeterred. We want to recreate a party capable of winning elections. We are independent, cannot be shoved aside, and are rebuilding a party from which responsible candidates will emerge,” Oruruo reassured.

The acting chairman emphasised that PDP is capable of bouncing back in the state despite the defections, which he said the party does not intend to challenge in court.

Oruruo acknowledged that there are minor crises at the national level but assured that the party has mechanisms to resolve any issues promptly.

Niger Explosion: ‘We saw it coming,’ NOA DG blames residents’ negligence

0
Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, says negligence and eroded values led to the Niger tanker explosion.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, the DG described the incident as “frustrating” and avoidable.

“It’s very frustrating, but we saw it coming. After the Dikko explosion (earlier this year) in Niger State, the President gave us a marching order to conduct a nationwide sensitisation,” Issa-Onilu said.

He said the agency had engaged stakeholders, including community leaders, religious leaders, security agencies, and youth groups. The NOA boss blamed the recurring tragedies on poor leadership at the community level.

“Our findings show that sensitisation alone won’t solve this problem. People are aware of the danger but ignore it.

“It’s the failure of leadership at the community level. This particular incident involved the entire community,” he said.

Issa-Onilu noted that the agency met with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) to review safety measures.

He explained that the downstream petroleum agencies were already developing new regulations to prevent such incidents.

The NOA DG condemned the act of scooping fuel from fallen tankers, describing it as criminal and morally wrong.

“Why do you go near a spillage when you know the risk involved?” he asked, noting that “It happened in Dikko recently; it shouldn’t happen again.”
