Tobacco use kills over 6,000 Ghanaians annually -ILAPI

0
Peter Bismark Kwofie, Executive Director of ILAPI

The Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI), a free enterprise organisation that emphasises freedom and individual liberty, has observed that the use of tobacco in Ghana accounts for about 6,700 deaths yearly. Sixty-six per cent of these deaths are premature among people under the age of 70, the ILAPI explained.

Ghana, the ILAPI continued, records over 8,000 new smokers annually, thus, expressing the fear that the use of tobacco could result in a staggering record of premature deaths by 2030.

The Executive Director of the ILAPI, Peter Bismark Kwofie, supported his observation with a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) at a brief presser in Tema to raise the high health risks of tobacco use to the user and Ghanaians.

He said: “A needs assessment exercise for implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Health, Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana, the Secretariat of the WHO FCTC (Convention Secretariat), the World Health Organisation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) during the week of September 12, 2022, in Accra, Ghana. The assessment revealed that more than 800,000 Ghanaians continue to smoke and every year, tobacco use kills more than 6,700 Ghanaians, with 66 per cent of these deaths being premature, among people under the age of 70.

“The addictive nature of the nicotine in cigarettes has made quitting smoking a prolonged and difficult process and that, many more smokers are unable to quit. It is estimated that US$115 billion is needed to be invested to help in smoking cessation from 2020–2030.

“In 2019, the economic cost of tobacco use in Ghana amounted to approximately GH¢668 million, equivalent to 0.2 per cent of the country’s GDP.”

Consequently, to fight this, the ILAPI professed the Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) strategy, which the group said was an important and evidence-based alternative to reduce the harm caused by tobacco, and subsequently lead to quitting smoking.

Peter Bismark Kwofie explained: “The Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR), as a public solution, recognises the harm caused by combustible cigarettes and aims to minimise the health impacts of cigarette smoking by encouraging those adult smokers who would, otherwise, continue to smoke to switch completely to scientifically substantiated, reduced-risk alternatives ought to be explored in our contemporary society.

“THR, in most cases, can help reduce the number of tobacco-related deaths by providing smokers with less harmful alternatives through policy and laws to reduce the burden on healthcare systems. By reducing the number of smoking-related illnesses, THR can help reduce healthcare costs and free up resources for other public health priorities.

“Due to the scientifically proven harmfulness of tobacco and addiction, the requisite stakeholders should consciously develop an educative medium to long-term gradual approach to reducing tobacco use rather than a short-term radical approach of denying consumers the right to make choices. This could be ascertained if there is a policy consideration for an alternative consumer choice approach to effectively reduce the intake of tobacco through the concept of THR.”

To conclude, Mr. Kwofie said Ghana needs to embrace THR as an important public health strategy for both the short to medium-and long-term impact to reduce death and other health and economic impacts.

Attaya improves erectile dysfunction and longer-lasting erections.

By Prof. Raphael Nyarkotey Obu

Don’t be too quick to judge. Don’t be surprised to read that a cup ofattaya can help improve your sex drive in both men and women.  This is because attaya is green tea, and science has revealed the potency of green tea to spice up your sex life.

Attaya, widely known in the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Liberia, Ghana, and other African countries is akin to Matcha in Japan. So,Attaya is African green tea as I will call it. The only disappointment is that attaya is still not cultivated in Africa. It is cultivated by the Chinese and exported to Africa. I have written extensively on the benefits of attaya, but I felt I needed to share this with you.

 Aphrodisiacs?

Aphrodisiacs were named after Aphrodite, the Grecian goddess of love. According to Greek mythology, Aphrodite originally came from the ocean and took her shape from sea form.

What makes attaya an aphrodisiac?

Attaya is from green tea and has an intimate effect due to the powerful feel-good effect triggered by L-theanine. L-theanine, which is found in large quantities in green tea, has been studied to be an excellent social lubricant that lowers anxiety and stress levels, allowing individuals to make genuine connections and authentic conversations. L-theanine was discovered as a constituent of green tea in 1949 by Sakato and in 1964 was approved as a food additive in Japan.

In my article on attaya and brain function, I highlighted that L-theanine increases dopamine and serotonin production in the brain with evidence from human electroencephalograph (EEG) studies showing that it has a direct effect on the brain. L-theanine significantly increases activity in the alpha frequency band which indicates that it relaxes the mind without inducing drowsiness.

Green tea has been used for centuries as a natural aphrodisiac in Japan, tastefully setting the stage for intimacy with its fragrant aromatic chemicals and natural libido-boosting compounds (Ali et al. 2013).

Old research (Chen et al. 2013) has unexpectedly found that tea drinking was positively related to sexual orgasm and sexual satisfaction in female hypertensive patients. The study, therefore, hypothesizes that long-term regular consumption of tea may play a role in sexual activity.

Also, a flavonoid called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) can lower your testosterone levels if you drink enough green tea. However, moderate consumption of green tea may provide health benefits due to a compound called catechin. Catechin’s antioxidant properties aid in the elimination of free radicals that would otherwise damage blood vessel linings and compromise blood flow.

L-theanine triggers the pleasure center of the brain, releasing dopamine.

One recent study by Baba et al. (2021) found that green tea contains significant concentrations of l-theanine, which has been heavily studied to increase dopamine generation in men and women. Dopamine — released when the body consumesl-theanine from green tea powder — is a chemical neurotransmitter that triggers the pleasure center in your brain. So when you drinkattaya, it naturally boosts blood flow, alleviates anxiety, and increases overall sexual attraction and enjoyment.

Attaya caffeinated but has an effect on sex drive for both men and women

Studies admonished the effect of green tea during sex. Hence, drinking attaya can help. According to Russ Mason(2008), two small human studies showed that within 30-40 minutes of consuming 50 or 200 mg of L-theanine, there is an increase in alpha wave activity/electrical signals produced by the brain. The perceived relaxation effect in the subjects coincided with the detection of alpha waves. This shows that L-theanine fosters a state of alert relaxation, which is consistent with the fact that anxious people have fewer or smaller alpha waves.

Other same studies found that L-theanine, at realistic dietary levels, has a significant effect on the general state of mental alertness or arousal. It is well established that female sexual dysfunctions and low desire, in particular, are frequently associated with an elevated level of psychological stress. Consequently, anything that can be done to promote relaxation and reduce the effects of stress may be able to help. The amino acid L-theanine fits this description.

Recent studies by (Peng et al. 2021; Ali et al. 2013) established that green tea is loaded with large amounts of caffeine, which has been studied to increase sexual desire — especially among women. The calming effect of green tea also improves your holistic sex drive, increasing energy and endurance during intercourse among men and women.

Attaya:erectile dysfunction and longer-lasting erections.

This is what I always pray for. This is the response: Keske et al. (2015) study confirmed that green tea powder lowers blood pressure and improves circulation by triggering a natural process known as vasodilation.

Vasodilation helps the relaxation of the blood vessels and supports the body and brain to get extra oxygen and nutrients. Hence, drinking green tea powder even was reportedto help men achieve hard and more enjoyable, longer-lasting erections. One animal-based study (Neves et al. 2008) found that signs of erectile dysfunction were reduced and largely reduced by giving a concentration of green tea serum for six months.

Another study, by Keske et al. (2015) that green tea’s libido-boosting benefits are also due to the exceptional content of polyphenols and catechins it contains.  For instance, one top green tea product matcha is cultivated, grown, and harvested in a special way to safeguard maximum potency. Catechins work in the body, killing off free radicals and stopping damage to inflamed blood vessels. They cause blood vessel cells to expel nitric oxide, which increases the size of blood vessels and improves overall blood flow.

Green tea has been shown to increase sex drive in menopausal women.

Elara Hadjipateras’s (2022) article asserts that there is one top green tea product known as matcha, which studies have found to increase sex drive in menopausal women.  Matcha has even been studied to help reduce and alleviate the signs and symptoms of menopause in women — including the lack of interest in sex.

Hence, regularly drinking green tea products such as attaya or matcha can help balance estrogen levels and has been shown to work extraordinarily well for improving the sex lives of menopausal women.

Green tea product has also been shown to combat signs and symptoms of depression. Just in case you feel some decrease in the sexual drive due to seasonal depressionregularly drinking attaya or green tea products may help.

Take Home

Attaya green teahas proven in research that it can be an easy and effective natural aphrodisiac that boosts libido and overall sexual pleasure while also offering a grounding and blissful effect.

I am just excited that attaya or green tea products can be used as a natural aphrodisiac, though there is still more research that needs to be done when it comes to interaction with prescription medications and other common health conditions.

In conclusion, though several factorsaffect our libido, and have to be taken in holistic ways, scientific natural remedies have been proven to help.

Walking barefoot improves menstrual flow, eyesight, sleep, hypertension, pain, and inflammation.

0
By Prof. Raphael Nyarkotey Obu

Most of my articles are born out of inspiration. Others are requests from readers. I know this topic will shock many people. Others will also as usual think this is an ordinary Naturopathic Professor exploring extraordinary beliefs. Maybe, this is a Psychology of an extraordinary belief.

While subjective responses and anecdotal success stories may be enough to convince some, there are plenty of non-believers in the supposed benefits of sticking your bare feet on the ground.

But, I have been seeing a few people who walk barefoot. Most of these people are spiritualists. However, most of us do barefoot walking at home.  Some adopt barefoot walking as a practice they do daily.

While walking barefooted is by no means a part of traditional medicine, it does belong to the group of practices that are becoming more socially accepted as an effective way of maintaining health. As more people begin to support and practice integrative medicine, it can be expected that walking barefooted will be socially reinforced and gain more popularity.

When a toddler is learning to walk, parents are told to let this process happen naturally, and without shoes.  This is because shoes can affect how a child uses the muscles and bones in their feet. They also receive feedback from the ground when they walk barefoot, and it improves their proprioception (awareness of their body in space). However, in our quest to adjust to the modern world, we tend to shove our feet into shoes and therefore the child loses the importance that is attached to barefoot walking as the child gets older.

Also, walking barefoot in natural surroundings brings you in contact with the earth. This transfers the earth’s electrons into your body, inducing therapeutic effects. These include reduced inflammation, stress, and pain and improved mood and sleep.

I have been asked several times whether it is safe to walk barefoot. Hence, in this article, I examine the science behind barefoot walking and the side effects attached to it.

 Earthing?

“Earthing” means walking barefoot on soil, grass, or sand (i.e. any natural surface). So, to reap the aforementioned benefits, you might have to get off the sidewalk.

The planet has its natural charge, and we seem to do better when we’re in direct contact with it.

Barefoot walking, Science

The important question I asked myself is whether there is any science in barefoot walking.  I found one important answer from  Dr. Jonathan Kaplan, foot and ankle specialist and orthopedic surgeon with Hoag Orthopaedic Institute. He asserts:

“The most straightforward benefit to barefoot walking is that in theory, walking barefoot more closely restores our ‘natural’ walking pattern, also known as our gait.”.

He further explains that if you go to any running or walking store and look at diverse pairs of shoes, you will notice that several of them have excessive cushioning and support.

While this pillow-type padding can feel pretty amazing when you walk in these types of shoes, board-certified podiatrist and foot surgeon Dr. Bruce Pinker says they can prevent you from using certain muscle groups that can strengthen your body.

 Barefoot, decreases Inflammation

This question was answered in one study by Oschman et al.(2015) and found that

Grounding (another name for direct skin contact with the surface of the earth) produced measurable differences in cytokines and compounds involved in the inflammatory process. This effect can be linked to the earth’s electrons.  The study also found that walking barefoot improves our white blood cells and reduces pain.

This is because skin contact with the earth’s surface enables the spread of electrons from the earth to the human body. These electrons enter the body through specific acupuncture points and mucous membranes (residing right under the skin).

A previous study by Chevalier et al.(2012)  explained that the antioxidants in our body are made of electrons, which help neutralize free radicals and eventually fight inflammation.

Also, the study found that grounding was also linked to lower anxiety levels. Subjects dealing with anxiety and depression, when grounded to the earth during sleep in their beds (using a conductive mattress pad), experienced improvements in their condition.

Let me state that though thisstudy wasn’t conducted on subjects walking barefoot, however, the mechanism involved was the same.

Barefoot walking, improves cardiovascular health

Some studies have thrown light on the physiological effects of walking barefoot (grounding) in improving cardiovascular health. One such study conducted by Chevalier et al.(2013)  found that barefoot walking helps to decrease blood viscosity levels, an effect that may lower hypertension. Due to the sample size, more studies are needed in this area to buttress the beneficial effects of walking barefoot on cardiovascular health.

Barefoot walking, changes the brain

An earlier study(Sokal and Sokal, 2011) found that earthing changed the electrical activity in the brain2, as measured by electroencephalograms. Fastforward, another study(Chevalier et al. 2012) found that grounding aided skin conductivity, moderated heart rate variability, improved glucose regulation, reduced stress, and support immune function

Barefoot, immunity

Oschman et al.(2015)  study affirmed that the transfer of electrons is the keyto barefoot walking and enables the body to absorb and donate electrons to the areas that need immune support. The authors further held that the mere fact that we disconnect ourselves from the Earth may be a significant rise in inflammatory-related diseases that have wrecked our weak immune system, and this can be corrected by going back to the earth by barefoot walking.

The reason is that a lack of sufficient electrons in the body can weaken the mitochondria (structures in the body’s cells that are responsible for energy production), leading to chronic fatigue and other issues. Even a minor injury can become a long-term health problem.

Barefoot walking, Reduces Pain

Oschman et al.(2015)  study further believe that when we walk barefoot, helps to reduce pain. This is done by altering the numbers of circulating neutrophils and lymphocytes. It also modulates various other factors linked to inflammation.  It further leads to the rapid resolution of painful chronic inflammation. Ravi Teja Tadimalla’s (2022) article further highlights that this could even prevent the signs of inflammation following heat, swelling, and pain.

Barefoot, encourages sleep

Chevalier et al. (2012) study found that walking barefoot can also encourage better sleep.  This is because the earth’s electrons spread to your body and cause multiple beneficial psychological changes, including enhanced sleep every night.

One article by Georgia Kinch(2012) reports that grounding also helps normalize the day-night biological rhythms. This helps you relax and sleep better. However, it is not recommended you take a walk (let alone walk barefoot) if you have a serious injury.

Barefoot,  improves eyesight

Maybe, this could be a ridiculous assertion. However, one study, by Embong et al.(2015) explained that barefoot walking improving eyesight could be due to the reflex points on the foot that are connected to the optic nerves. Is this not surprising that one could improve his or her eyesight by just walking barefoot? Well, this activity doesn’t come with certain caveats. Let us explore them.

Barefoot walking, warnings

Jayasinghe et al.(2007) study found that barefoot walking could expose one to diabetic foot disease in those vulnerable individuals.

The Centers for Disease Control(CDC) affirms that walking barefoot on contaminated soil can also lead to hookworm infection. The larvae (immature worms) present in the contaminated soil can penetrate the skin of humans. This also applies to walking barefoot in areas usually associated with fungal infections.  Andrew Ramirez,(2011) article also notes that areas such as swimming pools, locker rooms, the gym, and the beach are all affected.

Take Home

There is no prescribed duration for barefoot walking, but it is advisable to begin slow and practice walking for 10-15 minutes each day for the first few weeks to ease yourself into the habit.

There are many benefits one could derive from barefoot walking. For instance, Hollander et al.(2016) study found that walking barefoot may strengthen your feet and make them more flexible.

Also, walking barefoot does not cause nerve damage. However, those with existing nerve damage, such as peripheral neuropathy, should avoid walking barefoot to minimize the risk of further injury.

Note also that frequent walking barefoot for a long period may wear down the heel pads on your feet and lead to plantar fasciitis or heel pain.

A previous study also proscribes walking barefoot on concrete and other similar hard surfaces as this could put excess pressure on the heels and lead to foot issues over time(Mohamed et al. 2015).

In submission, walking barefoot has many benefits such as decreasing inflammation, reducing/eliminating chronic pain, improving sleep, increasing energy, normalizing the body’s biological rhythms, improving blood pressure, lessening menstrual symptoms, and dramatically speeding healing time (just to name a few). Therefore, make sure to walk in clean areas and follow good hygiene practices afterward.

Kadjebi: Volta Red Oil Refinery pollutes Wawa River

0
Volta Red Oil Refinery

The Volta Red Oil Refinery Company, producers of palm oil at Ahamansu in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, has been fingered for continuously discharging untreated effluent from the refinery into the Wawa River.

According to stakeholders the effluent was directly destroying the aquatic life of the river as dead fishes are seen afloat with inhabitants close to the water body having a field day of harvesting the dead fish.

A reliable source has disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the District Security Council was monitoring the development and would respond appropriately. An insider told the GNA that the pollution was destroying the aquatic life of the river.

Mr. Dickson Ansah, a member of the Town Development Committee of Ahamansu, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency said the leaking effluent has affected communities such as Papase, Asuoboi and its environs, who depended on the river.

He said that the Company coming to terms with the destruction has been supplying sachet water to all affected communities, who could not use the water resource for any purpose until the mess was cleared.

Mr. Seidu Ibrahim, Operations Manager of the Refinery, told the GNA a breach in the wall of the Company’s Pond resulted in the pollution but indicated a permanent solution has been found to the problem against future occurrence.

Mr. Albert Abotsi, in-charge of the Environmental Protection Agency, Oti Region, who resumed duty barely two weeks ago, promised to investigate the matter with dispatch. Meanwhile, GNA gathered that authorities of the Refinery have been summoned to the Oti Regional Coordinating Council for questioning.

Editorial: Campaign promises: Need for a Legislated National Development Plan

0
Editorial

As the 2024 General Elections campaign season approaches, many are the promises politicians will make to us the electorate to get our votes. Much as these campaign promises serve as a social contract between the government and the governed, it is trite knowledge that most of these promises never get fulfilled.

The Chronicle holds the view that governments fail to fulfill their campaign promises because the voters themselves fail to hold the political leaders accountable at the end of their tenure of office.

The Chronicle would wish to draw the attention of Ghanaians to some promises being made by former President John Dramani Mahama as he tours some regions of the country.

The 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the next government, under his leadership in 2025, would not be in a hurry to undertake new projects, because he anticipates that the fiscal space would be too small for such ambitions.

He said the party’s priority would be to complete all stalled projects under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, noting that the decision of the current government to abandon projects started under the NDC had been one of the major drawbacks to the country.

He indicated that the NDC would take an inventory of all abandoned projects in the country and ensure that they are completed before tackling new ones.

Mr. Mahama was speaking to branch and constituency executives in Odumase in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency, in the Eastern Region, as well as Kwadaso Constituency polling station executives and the Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) members at the Akenten Appiah Menkah University of Skills and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) auditorium in Kumasi some weeks ago.

First of all, if the country was to chart a proper development path, we wouldn’t need politicians to make big promises every four years.

Many advanced countries have well laid down development plans that governments must follow, irrespective of their political ideologies. This has ensured continuous development in all sectors of their economies.

In Ghana, we have the National Development Planning Commission, which has been charged with the responsibility of putting together a national development plan, and ensuring that such plans are executed by all governments.

In fact, due to the important role the Commission is expected to play in nation building, the framers of the 1992 Constitution dedicated Articles 86 to 87 to spell out its duties and responsibilities.

Truth be told, the NDC government, under John Mahama, instituted a 40-year National Development Plan, since, according to them, most of the development challenges facing Ghana were structural in nature, and require a long-term view and solution. The then Director-General of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, said the 40-year period would bind successive governments and allow any governing political party to formulate its activities, in line with the national vision to guarantee consistent economic growth and infrastructure expansion.

However, when the NPP government took over power in 2017, it downplayed the relevance of a 40-year National Development Plan to guide Ghana’s development agenda. According to Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo, a long-term plan for national development must be limited to ten years, due to world economic conditions and the advancement in technology.

Well, maybe if the NDC had legislated the 40-year National Development Plan by sending it to Parliament, we would not be where we are today, with the NPP and NDC toying with the development fortunes of the country.

Today, former President John Mahama has come full circle and is promising that the NDC would take an inventory of all abandoned projects in the country and ensure that all such initiatives are completed before tackling new ones.

The Chronicle’s question is what happens if the NDC comes to power and fails to fulfill these promises. Who would hold them responsible?

It will, therefore, be prudent for us to develop a long-term plan with the help of the Legislative House, which will accommodate both the continuity required for a long-term view of national development.

The time to act is now!

Letter to Senior Opupulepu (226) Evening Came, Morning Followed, the Tuesday!

Opinion

Dear Senior Opupulepu,

How are you do? I hope you are do fine. As for us, we are do fine.

Senior, the Feast of the Eastern Star, has come and gone. This was a festival to commemorate the day, Yahweh’s Only Son, Yesu Christus Emmanuel, beat up Wofa Sasabomsam and his special aide, Owuo, while He had all legs and hands tied together.

Senior, it happened that Wofa Sasabomsam was all over the place bragging and boasting about his strength and power and that even Yahweh cannot do him fooko.

Senior, accompanied by his special aide, Owuo, he started transforming homo-sapiens into ghosts like nobody’s business.

Senior, Wofa Sasabomsam was told by his village chief fetish priest and prophets that nobody born of man and woman can defeat him.

Senior, they say, small boys are young and so was it when to halt Wofa Sasabomsam’s stupidity, Yahweh sent His Only Pikin to go undercover and investigate all Wofa Sasabosam was doing.

Senior, this very Rich Man Pikin chose to go undercover well, well and so he lodged in the slums in the care of a very poor mother and her very poor husband, Eno Mariama and Agya José who had no relationship with José Mourinho of Chelsea’s fame.

Senior, because common food was hard to come by, Agya José imposed child labour on this Pickin, who was baptised Yesu Christus Emmanuel, and made him a carpenter boy by force.

Senior, the Boy Yesu Christus Emmanuel soon grew to be a man. And He started doing miracles, the most refined form of magic. Yet, Wofa Sasabomsam did not see through that this Man was special and he had to tread cautiously or else… hmmm.

Senior, it was not too long when Wofa Sasabomsam made the most stupid and worse mistake in his life. He ordered his special aide Owuo, to transform a certain Lazarus into a ghost. He did it on purpose, because whenever Yesu Christus Emmanuel was hungry, He would pass by Lazarus’ house and his sisters, namely What-Can-The-Matter-Be and Merry-Mary, would serve him with any food of His choice, including kokoo and kose, konkonte and groundnut soup.

Senior, in order to make Yesu Christus Emmanuel starve to death, Wofa Sasabomsam made Lazarus take the lead into asaman-do, the Land of the Dead.

Senior, lo and behold, when Yesu Christus Emmanuel heard this, He cried out in anger and went forth to the gate of the Land of the Dead and politely asked Lazarus to come out. Even though, He never addressed the locked gate, it quickly opened and Owuo himself, to play safe, sacked Lazarus from his premises.

Senior, Yesu Christus Emmanuel decided it was time to take the fight to Wofa Sasabosam and so they fought. At one point, Yesu was down and out and Wofa Sasabomsam ordered Owuo to lock Him up in the Land of the Dead. That was their most stupid mistake ever. Just like a Kpakpo Shito guy in a fight who will say, kenteshi le ma shibo, to wit, when I get up I will beat you, but cannot do fooko, Wofa Sasabomsamthought Yesu Christus Emmanuel was like any Kpakpo Shito guy.

Senior, not knowing, Yesu Christus Emmanuel had a game plan. He allowed Himself to be taken into the kingdom of Wofa Sasabomsam and for three days, He wreaked havoc there destroying everything. Scared, Wofa Sasabomsam and his cabinet ministers fled into exile.

Senior, on the third day, Yesu Christus Emmanuel came back alive looking more fresh than He had ever been. To commemorate this beautiful event, we were assembled in Church on the eve of the Resurrection and told stories about our Salvation History from the Holy Book.

Senior, one that sweet me well, well was the creation of ewiase. Yahweh said on the first day that Let there be Light, Day One or Sunday first went for Osono light which Yahweh rejected, until it brought Sunlight, not the soap, and Yahweh accepted. This took almost the whole day but Yahweh blessed Sunday.

Senior, second day came and Yahweh said Let There Be Sky, and again like Day One, Day Two orMonday, went for skyscrapers which were rejected until evening, it came with Sky and Yahweh blessed Monday.

Senior, on Day Three, Yahweh said Let There Be Dry Land and Wet Sea, very intelligent Day Three or Tuesday, produced Dry Land and Wet Sea immediately and Yahweh blessed that day. But it was still morning, so Yahweh said again to Tuesday, Let there be Cassava, and all plants, and before Yahweh could finish talking, Tuesday produced them. Yahweh was very impressed and blessed Tuesday again.

Senior, it looks like Tuesday is the most obedient and blessed day. Yahweh could have done more Let There Be’s, but He relaxed for Day Four and through to Day Six, each first, became confused and presented the wrong things, until a second try. On Day Seven, because Yahweh used two Let ThereBe’s, on Tuesday, He had nothing more to Let There Be’s, so He just relaxed in His Lazy Chair and watched Akan drama on television.

Senior, ewiase would not have been ewiase had there not been, Evening Came, Morning Followed, the Tuesday.

The organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charter House has responded to Dope Nation’s allegation of genre misclassification for their song ‘Gboza.’

According to the musical duo, ‘Gboza’ is a blend of House music, Afrobeats, and Amapiano and thus should not have been nominated under the Best Afro-pop Song category.

In a reaction, Public Relations Officer of the scheme, Robert Klah said the group had gotten it wrong.

MrKlah pointed out that sounds such as house music, Afrobeats, Amapiano and Alternative tunes all fell under the Afro-Pop category under the scheme.

“Afro-pop is actually a fusion of different sounds situated within Afromusic so when they say it’s House and a fusion of Afrobeats and Amapiano, this is exactly what it is under the scheme,” he explained on TV3.

According to the PRO, the issue was simply a matter of Dope Nation understanding their operational definition of how they describe the categories. If they have a better understanding of these definitions, disputes can be settled easily.

“It is just a matter of them just having to understand how we describe certain things or our operational definition of how we describe the categories and that would have settled matters. There’s a guideline and that’s what we work with,” he explained.

He also further explained the role of the board and the in-depth research that is sanctioned prior to nominating a sound

“One of the functions of the board and team is classification so what we do is that once a song comes through it is classified under the category that is most appropriate for,” he disclosed.
