Highlife Artiste, Kuami Eugene, has opened up on his relationship with highlife legend, Amakye Dede.
In June 2023, Amakye Dede in an interview, disclosed that he was forced to crown Kuami Eugene as ‘King of Highlife’ at an event.
“Although I did that [crowned him], it was not my will. They forced me to crown the boy. That’s the reason I did that
“Even the crown they gave to me to put on his head, I gave it to someone to place it somewhere. But later, they gave it back to me to adorn him with it,” Amakye Dede stated.
A year into this brouhaha, Kuami Eugene has shared his thoughts on that particular incident.
Speaking on Anidaso FM, he has indicated that Amakye Dede’s statements have not soiled their relationship.
He explained that there is no way he could be caught in a feud with Amakye Dede, who has been in the industry for years and has a wealth of experience.
Eugene also noted that Amakye Dede is older than him, making it impossible for him to show disrespect.
“Amakye Dede is Amakye Dede and I will love him for the rest of my life. He has made a very good impact on the music industry. I can say that there is no bad blood between us. He is an elderly man, I can’t beef with him or question him,” he said.

Readers often ask me for insight into the mysterious and confusing “how employers hire.” While the recruitment process—keep in mind there’s no universal recruitment process, as every employer assesses candidates differently—may seem shrouded in secrecy, there are common questions that hiring managers consider when evaluating job candidates.
Your interviewer won’t ask these common questions directly; they’re in their mind. Hence, never take your interviewer’s questions at face value; try to discern the underlying question.
INTERVIEWER: “Do you live nearby?”
QUESTION ACTUALLY BEING ASKED: Will this candidate be reliable?
INTERVIEWER: “Tell me about a time you were in a conflict with a colleague and how you handled it. What was the outcome?”
QUESTION ACTUALLY BEING ASKED: Will this candidate be easy to work with?
Understanding, and therefore speaking to, the following four questions on every hiring manager’s mind is a sure way to endear yourself to your interviewer.
Will this person be a fit with the current team and company?
The primary concern for a hiring manager is whether a candidate will seamlessly fit into the company’s culture and existing team. Demonstrating how well you’ll ‘fit in,’ you’ll significantly increase your odds of getting hired. Employers are looking for more than just someone who can do the job. They’re looking for candidates who’ll be a natural fit and complement their current employees’ work styles and personalities.
A candidate who doesn’t mesh well with the team will disrupt productivity, create interpersonal tensions, and drain morale. Therefore, understandably, hiring managers pay close attention to a candidate’s communication style, emotional intelligence, and teamwork skills.
Your interviewes is likely asking themselves:
How well is this [candidate’s name] listening and responding to me?
Does [candidate’s name] seem like someone who’d be comfortable working in a team?
Will [candidate’s name] clash with [names of employees the candidate would be working closely with]?
Ultimately, you want your interviewer to envision how you’ll function in the existing workplace culture, that who’ll be a natural fit, will hit the ground running and not be a square peg in a round hole. Contrary to entitlement-fueled belief, employers aren’t responsible for you fitting into their workplace; that responsibility is entirely yours.
Will they be easy to work with? (read: Will they be easy to manage?)
With so much anti-employer rhetoric nowadays, hiring managers assess more than ever whether a candidate will be pleasant to work with and easy to manage. They want to avoid candidates who’ll require handholding, are overly sensitive to feedback, or are simply difficult to work with.
Skilled hiring managers recognize red flags such as:
Defensiveness or antagonism in response to questions
Rigid or inflexible thinking
Failure to take accountability for mistakes
Tendency to make excuses or blame others
You want to come across as a candidate who’s mature, resilient, and a proactive problem-solver with a growth mindset, not someone who’ll be a high-maintenance employee.
Will they be a liability?
Employees are liabilities.
Employers want to minimize their liabilities.
A critical aspect of hiring is vetting candidates to ensure nothing in their background could adversely affect the company. (e.g., offensive online behaviour, having been let go for cause, exaggerating or lying about their experience and qualifications)
Ultimately, hiring managers must be confident that a new hire won’t bring any legal, ethical, or behavioural baggage that could expose the company to liability. The company must trust that the chosen candidate will be responsible, hardworking, ethical, and professional and that their outside activities, especially online, will not harm its brand and reputation.
Will they stick around?
I’ve yet to meet a hiring manager who doesn’t gravitate toward a candidate they feel will be a loyal, engaged, committed long-term employee. After not deeming a candidate a fit, having a feeling or getting the impression that the candidate is only looking for a stepping stone is the second most likely reason I reject a candidate. Onboarding and recruiting are time-consuming and expensive; therefore, employers aim to avoid disruptions and costs associated with turnover.
Your interviewer will look for signs that you’re genuinely interested in the role and the company as opposed to just a paycheck. Hence, you’ll be asked about your long-term career goals and, if you’re currently employed, why you’re looking for a new job. (Rare is the candidate who answers this convincingly.)
Your work ethic, reliability, and ability to handle the role’s demands are all qualities you want your interviewer to get a sense of. Provide evidence that you have stamina, the ability to adapt, and the commitment to succeed. Keep in mind employers want to reduce costly turnover as much as possible. Your interviewer will pass on your application if they feel you will be around only briefly. Finding the right candidate isn’t about skills and experience; these are secondary. Someone who’ll foremost be a loyal and engaged employee and has the right skills and experience is the right candidate.
If you feel you’re acing interviews (“I aced the interview! I answered every question on point.”) but not getting offers, it’s likely because you didn’t answer the four aforementioned questions every hiring manager asks themselves when interviewing.

Over time, high amounts of salt, sugar, saturated fat, and refined carbs raise your risk for a heart attack or stroke. If you’re worried about your heart, you’ll want to keep these out of regular rotation.
But rather than fixate on any one bad food, it’s wise to focus on your overall diet. You can still have these things if you mostly eat heart-healthy fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy.
Fried Chicken
Deep-frying chicken adds calories, fat, and sodium to an otherwise healthy food. Studies have linked fried food with type 2 diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure — all of which raise your odds of heart failure. For a crispy but healthier choice, bread skinless chicken breasts in whole-wheat flour and bake instead of frying.
Bacon
More than half of bacon’s calories come from saturated fat, which can raise your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or bad cholesterol, and boost your chance of a heart attack or stroke. It’s full of salt, which bumps up your blood pressure and makes your heart work harder. High amounts of sodium (the main part of salt) can lead to stroke, heart disease, and heart failure. Bacon’s added preservatives are linked to these issues as well.
Red Meat
Eating too much beef, lamb, and pork may raise your odds for heart disease and diabetes. It may be because they’re high in saturated fat, which can boost cholesterol. More recent studies point to how gut bacteria process a part of the meat called L-carnitine. Limit your portions. Also, look for lean cuts like round, sirloin, and extra-lean ground beef.
Canned Soup
Soup can be an easy way to get more vegetables, protein, and fiber. But watch out for unhealthy ingredients. Canned soup often has lots of sodium, which can cause high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, and heart failure. And any cream-based soup has unhealthy saturated fat. The healthiest way to enjoy soup is to make it from scratch with a low-sodium broth. If you do buy prepared soup, check the label for the least salt and fat.
Soda
Having small amounts of added sugar isn’t harmful, but a can of soda has more added sugar than experts recommend for a whole day. Soda drinkers tend to gain more weight and are more likely to be obese and have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. And while the science is still fuzzy on diet drinks, some research links them to weight gain and strokes. Your best bet is plain, carbonated, or unsweetened flavored water.
Baked Goods
Cookies, cakes, and muffins should be rare treats. They’re typically loaded with added sugar, which leads to weight gain. They’re also linked to higher triglyceride levels, and that can lead to heart disease. Their main ingredient is usually white flour, which may spike your blood sugar and make you hungrier. Make healthier treats: Swap in whole-wheat flour, trim the sugar, and use liquid plant oils instead of butter or shortening.
Processed Meats
Hot dogs, sausage, salami, and lunch meat are the worst types of meats for your heart. They have high amounts of salt, and most are high in saturated fat. When it comes to deli meats, turkey is better for you than salami because it doesn’t have the saturated fat. But it still has a fair amount of sodium, so it isn’t as heart-healthy as fresh sliced turkey breast.
Pizza
Pizza can be healthy if you make it the right way, but most take-out pizza and frozen pies have staggering amounts of sodium, fat, and calories, all of which can raise your risk of a heart attack. When you order out, opt for a thin crust (whole wheat if possible), ask for less cheese, pile on the veggies, and skip the pepperoni or sausage, which are loaded with salt. For the most heart-healthy pizza, make it yourself.
Alcohol
Moderate drinking won’t harm your heart unless you have high blood pressure or high triglycerides, a type of fat in your blood that can boost your odds of heart disease. Heavy drinking, on the other hand, can lead to high blood pressure, heart failure, strokes, and weight gain. So if you don’t already drink, don’t start.
Butter
Butter is high in saturated fat, which can raise your bad cholesterol and make heart disease more likely. You’re better off to replace butter with olive oil or vegetable oil-based spreads, which contain heart-healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats. If you have high cholesterol, a spread with stanol is even better. Regular use can help lower your LDL cholesterol levels.
Flavored, Full-Fat Yogurt
Yogurt can be a super source of nutrition. Eating it regularly might protect you from high blood pressure. But watch the kind you buy. Flavored yogurts are full of added sugar, with its links to weight gain, high blood pressure, inflammation, and heart disease. For the healthiest choice, get plain low-fat yogurt and add your own fresh fruit, cinnamon, or vanilla for flavor.
French Fries
The deep-fried potatoes from restaurants and fast-food places have lots of fat and salt, which is bad news for your heart. One study found that people who ate french fries or hash browns 2 to 3 times a week were more likely to die early. If you indulge, get the smallest portion possible or split your order. Even better: Make your own oven-baked fries with heart-healthy olive oil. They’ll be even better for you if you use sweet potatoes.
With club football put on ice for the next couple of weeks, Tanzania and Ethiopia will start their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a Group H clash at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The Taifa Stars have been largely inconsistent throughout 2024 and only began seeing an upturn in results since the month of May.
Tanzania are currently unbeaten in their last three fixtures across the board and go into their next fixture on the back of a 1-0 win against Zambia in a CAF World Cup qualifier that took place on the 11th of June.
Ethiopia on the other hand, recorded back-to-back draws against Guinea-Bissau (0-0) and Djibouti (1-1) in two of their most recent CAF World Cup qualifiers in June.
Positive results have been hard to come by for Ethiopia this year and recorded just one victory in four matches since the turn of 2024, which came in the form of a 2-1 win against Lesotho in a Friendly encounter on the 24th of March.
Tanzania national team interim head coach Hemed Suleiman has revealed that the Taifa Stars will go into their 2025 Afcon qualifying campaign with no injury concerns or worries.
This will be the first meeting between Tanzania and Ethiopia in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers; however, the two sides have met on three occasions since 2013.
Sudan and Niger will get things underway in Group F, as the Falcons of Jediane welcome the Menas to Juba Olympic Stadium for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Wednesday.
Head coach James Kwesi Appiah
Both sides will be meeting for the first time in a competitive match, as they look to take a step towards participation in the prestigious tournament. Sudan will begin their quest for an appearance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after missing out on the last edition in Ivory Coast.
One-time winners of the competition after triumphing in 1970, Sudan have struggled to match that performance, with only managing to reach the quarterfinals once since then – in 2012.
Head coach, James Kwesi Appiah, appointed in September 2023, has led the side to a tremendous start in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, as they currently top Group B with 10 points, two points ahead of African powerhouse Senegal.
The coach will hope his side can translate this form into the AFCON qualifiers, having won their last three competitive matches and lost just one of their last eight matches across all competitions.
Sudan are unbeaten in five of their last six home games and are enjoying a fine run of form and have demonstrated their capabilities in the World Cup qualifiers, remaining unbeaten to date.
Niger, conversely, are experiencing a difficult period and enter this match on a poor run. Given the disparity in form, we anticipate Sudan to have too much for their opponents to handle.

Libya welcome Rwanda to the 11th June Stadium
Group D at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers kicks off this weekend with Libya taking on Rwanda at the 11 June Stadium in Tripoli on Wednesday evening.
The group also features African powerhouse Nigeria and Benin, who will lock horns in their opening match on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Libya will head into their first match of AFCON qualifying in good spirits after putting on a solid display to beat Botswana 1-0 in a friendly match at this venue over the weekend.
Rwanda
While the Mediterranean Knights were not the most attacking in that game, scoring with pretty much their only big chance of the game, they were impressive in defence, conceding just three shots on target, none of which looked likely to find the back of the net.
Since the Libyan Football Federation announced the appointment of Serbia tactician Milutin Micho Sredojevic at the start of October, the side have experienced a notable upturn in performances, with the new boss suffering only one loss in 11 matches since his arrival.
Libya are set to feature in their 11th AFCON qualifying campaign this year, but have only reached the main draw three times, with the last being in the 2011-12 tournament.
Meanwhile, Rwanda will be aiming for a major improvement in this qualifying campaign after finishing rock bottom in the last edition and failing to win any of their six group-stage matches.
However, the Wasps head into this competition carrying solid form, currently sitting atop their group in CAF World Cup qualification with a record of two wins one draw and just one loss in their first four games.
Both these sides have made notable improvements under new management and are carrying solid form into this match. There is very little to choose between these two and we feel there will be nothing to split them at the final whistle as well.
Just seven months on from the previous edition, qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will get underway in midweek when the Comoros take on Gambia at Stade Ben Ahmed El Abdi.
These two sides have been drawn into Group A of these qualifiers, which also features Madagascar and Tunisia who will face off on Thursday night in Rades.
The Comoros come into AFCON qualifying following an impressive COSAFA Cup campaign which saw them bow out 3-1 to Mozambique on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time in the match for third place.
Les Coelacantes failed to qualify for the 2023 edition of the AFCON, finishing third in their group, six points above Lesotho but six behind Zambia and the eventual tournament winners Ivory Coast.
Comoros
Since then, though, Stefano Cusin‘s side have enjoyed an impressive CAF World Cup qualifying campaign so far, currently leading their group with nine points after four matches, a period during which they secured a notable 1-0 win over African giants Ghana in November last year.
The Comoros have participated in seven AFCON qualification campaigns since their first appearance in 2010-11 but have only reached the main draw on one occasion, which was the 2021-22 season where they were knocked out in the round of 16 by Cameroon.
While the Comoros enter this match with slightly better form, Gambia have made significant strides forward in recent years and have a few big names arriving in Casablanca for these qualifiers.
We are expecting a closing contested opening match here but fancy the Scorpions to come away with the victory.
Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku was present at the Black Stars’ first training session in Accra as the team gears up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Okraku attended the Monday, September 3, 2024, session at the Accra Sports Stadium, accompanied by Vice-President Mark Addo and Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire.
With only 10 players in attendance, the training session marked the start of preparations under coach Otto Addo, who is expecting the rest of the squad to join soon.
During the visit, President Okraku greeted the coaches and players, exchanging warm pleasantries.
The Black Stars are set to face Angola in their opening qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, 2024, before travelling to Berkane, Morocco, to take on Niger on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Valencia striker Rafa Mir (27) has been arrested by the Spanish Guardia Civil police for an alleged crime of sexual assault, the club said on Tuesday.
A Guardia Civil spokesperson confirmed that a LaLiga player had been detained in Valencia for alleged sexual assault against one woman but did not disclose the name.
Valencia said in a statement it was aware of the arrest and that it will cooperate with the justice system. Mir‘s representatives could not immediately be reached for comment.
Mir has also played for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sevilla, who have loaned him to his boyhood club Valencia.
Cadena Ser radio station which first reported the news said Mir did not show up for training with his team on Tuesday.
Another person allegedly involved in the assault has also been detained, it said.
Ajax are waiting for FIFA’s verdict on Kamaldeen Sulemana’s loan move after filing the necessary paperwork just 17 minutes before the transfer deadline, according to Dutch football journalist Mike Verweij.
Ajax have agreed on terms with Southampton to bring the Ghana winger on loan for the season, with an option to buy for 20 million euros.
However, the timing of the submission has left Ajax uncertain if the deal will be confirmed.
Kamaldeen Sulemana joined Southampton in January 2023 from French side Rennes for a fee of around 25 million euros.
The 22-year-old made 44 appearances for the Saints, scoring twice and providing four assists.
Despite his potential, recurring injuries limited his impact, with Sulemana missing 18 games last season and yet to feature in the Premier League this term.
Sulemana’s move to Ajax comes after the departure of Steven Bergwijn to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, which freed up space for the winger.
This transfer is seen as an opportunity for Sulemana to reignite his career, having struggled for consistency in recent seasons.
With the transfer window now closed, Ajax’s hopes of adding Sulemana to their ranks hinge on FIFA’s decision.
The club and its fans are eagerly waiting to see if the paperwork was submitted in time to finalize the deal.
Black Princesses’ head coach, Yussif Basigi, says defeat to Austria now means his side must get the needed results at all costs in their remaining games.
Ghana lost 1-2 to Austria in their opening game at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Monday night. A late strike from Stella Nyamekye was not sufficient for Yussif Basigi’s side to earn points leaving them in a tight space ahead of their next games.
“I wouldn’t say there is no pressure at all because if we had won or drawn this game against Austria, it would’ve given us motivation,” said Basigi after the game against the debutants.
“But now we have no option than to go all out with the remaining two games to go.”
Ghana will face Japan, who won their opener with a 7-0 score, on Thursday, September
5, before facing New Zealand in their final group game.
The Black Princesses would need to finish as one of the top two in Group E or possibly one of the best third-place teams to advance
The ISIS (ISIL) group has claimed responsibility for a deadly suicide bombing in Kabul that killed at least six people.
In a Telegram post on Tuesday, ISIL said one of its members detonated an explosive vest in the Afghan capital the previous day, targeting the Taliban government’s prosecution service.
The bomber waited until government employees finished their shifts and then detonated the explosive in the middle of a crowd, the post said.
Thirteen people were wounded in the attack in Kabul’s southern Qala-e-Bakhtiar area, according to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran.
ISIL, which put the casualties at “more than 45”, said the attack was revenge for “Muslims held in Taliban prisons”.
While overall violence has waned in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s 2021 takeover, ISIL’s affiliate in the Khorasan region – Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) – remains active, regularly targeting civilians, foreigners and Taliban officials with gun and bomb attacks.
The last suicide attack in Afghanistan claimed by the regional chapter of ISIL was in the southern city of Kandahar – the Taliban’s historic stronghold – in March. That bombing, striking a group of people waiting outside a bank branch, killed more than 20 bystanders.
