Stonebwoy and Kelvinbwoy

Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeats artiste, Kelvynboy, has spoken about the attempts he has made to patch up his differences with Stonebwoy.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he said “I’ve been trying for years. It is not the first thing I think about when I wake up from bed but when it comes to my issue with Stonebwoy, I wish we thrashed it out.”

“Any time, we’ve tried I don’t think he’s ready. But me, I dey,” he noted.

In 2019, Stonebwoy severed his work relationship with Kelvynboy after the latter had been signed to the Burniton Music Group.

A press release from Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group that announced the separation stated that “Mr Kelvin Brown (Kelvyn Boy) and the Company entered into an agreement dated January 22, 2018, which, to a large extent, governed the relationship between both parties (the Agreement). The Agreement had an initial term of one (1) year, and provided the Company with an option to extend the tenure for a further period of four (4) years (the Option).”

It further indicated that the contract extension period under the Agreement did not take effect after the Agreement expired on January 21, 2019.

Accordingly, Kelvyn Boy ceases to be an artiste under the Company and will no longer be associated with the Company and/or the BHIM Nation brand. We wish him success in his future endeavours,” the record label noted.

Before that, Kelvynboy had apologised to Stonebwoy after the latter had complained that the ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker had disrespected him.

After the separation, Kelvynboy released hit songs and albums, invading foreign music industries and chalking huge successes.

At the moment, he is out with a new song titled ‘Man Down’ which features Lasmid.

Family of late motor rider in Kofi Kinaata accident seeks justice

0
Kofi Kinaata

Lawrence Sey, a young motorcyclist involved in the accident with Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata, has been reported dead. Eyewitness accounts and statements from the deceased’s family revealed that the driver of Kofi Kinaata’s Land Cruiser V8 Prado veered into the oncoming lane, colliding with the motorbike.

Reports stated that the vehicle, in an attempt to overtake, struck the motorcycle, dragging the rider into a nearby pit.

Lawrence Sey, according to reports, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, while his passenger, Andrews Ansah, a senior high school student, sustained serious injuries, including two broken legs.

“The driver left his lane and overtook the motorcyclists. There were two motorbikes involved: the first was occupied by Lawrence and his passenger, Andrews,” an eyewitness told Gossips 24.

They further narrated, “Lawrence was trapped under the car, and it dragged him into a pit in the bushes. Lawrence died upon arrival at the hospital, and Andrews is currently receiving treatment at Afia Nkwanta Hospital.”

Apparently, there was another motorbike behind the first one and, upon sensing danger, the driver swerved, allowing the passengers to jump off.

Initially, Kofi Kinaata stated that the motorbike had rammed into their vehicle and claimed the two passengers were alive and receiving critical care at the hospital.

However, Lawrence’s family is deeply upset by his comments. The deceased’s uncle expressed his disappointment, stating he was angered by Kinaata’s assertion that the motorbike was at fault.

Lawrence’s mother, in an exclusive interview, expressed her grief and anger.

“He was coming from Agona Nkwanta to Takoradi while you (Kofi Kinaata) were coming from Takoradi to Nkroful. You left your lane, overtook and knocked him into a pit. The way my son died, you will die the same way,” she stated.

Ghanaians drag Agya Koo for endorsing NPP during #FreeTheCitizens protest uproar

0
Agya Koo

Popular Kumawood actor Agya Koo, a staunch supporter of the NPP, has faced criticism for his endorsement post supporting the NPP amid the #FreeTheCitizens campaign.

The online movement began after several protesters, including socialite Ama Governor and walking artist Glenn Samm, were arrested during a three-day protest at the 37 Military Roundabout in Accra.

These arrests sparked the #FreeTheCitizens campaign, which has seen numerous Ghanaian and international personalities, including Efya, Camidoh, Efia Odo, Nigerian musician Chike, and many others, joining in.

However, in the heat of the moment, Agya Koo took to his X-handle on 25 September 2024, to urge Ghanaians to vote for NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming 7 December 2024 general elections.

Background

The #OccupyJulorbiHouse protesters were arrested during their demonstration, which took place over the weekend. The arrests followed a three-day protest at the 37 Military Roundabout, where demonstrators raised concerns about illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) and economic mismanagement.

On Sunday, 22 September, tensions escalated as a major confrontation occurred between protesters from Democracy Hub and the Ghana Police Service, marking the second day of the demonstrations.

The protesters have been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court. They face five charges: conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct, breach of public peace, and assault on public officers.

Elon Musk hits back after being shunned from UK summit

0
Rishi Sunak and Elon Musk chatted at a summit on artificial intelligence last year

The world’s richest person, Elon Musk, has hit back after not being invited to the UK government’s International Investment Summit.

He was not invited due to his social media posts during last month’s riots, the BBC understands.

“I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted pedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts,” Mr Musk claimed on X.

Earlier this month, the government released some prisoners to reduce prison overcrowding, but no people serving sentences for sex offences were included.

Following disorder and rioting across the UK in August, some people were jailed for encouraging unrest on social media.

Violence spread across the country after a stabbing attack in Southport, in which three children attending a dance class were killed. At the time, Mr Musk posted on X, formerly Twitter, predicting civil war in the UK and repeatedly attacking the prime minister.

The summit in October is the key moment that PM Sir Keir Starmer hopes will attract tens of billions of pounds in inward funding for business from the world’s biggest investors.

Mr Musk was invited to last year’s event but did not attend. However, he took a starring role in November’s AI Summit, including a fireside chat with then-PM Rishi Sunak.

The government declined to comment on the tech entrepreneur not being invited to the summit and the billionaire’s backlash to the decision.

But Jeremy Hunt, the former Conservative chancellor and now the shadow chancellor, told the BBC it was a “big loss” not to have Mr Musk at the summit.

“He told me last year he was planning a new car plant in Europe and had not decided where but the UK was a candidate,” Mr Hunt claimed.

Escalating Trump row looms over Zelensky’s US visit

0
President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant

The Speaker of the US House Mike Johnson has demanded that Ukraine fire its ambassador to Washington, as a feud between the Republican Party and Volodymyr Zelensky escalates.

Johnson’s intervention comes after President Zelensky visited an arms factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania – the hometown of President Joe Biden in a key swing state – with several top Democrats.

In a public letter, the top Republican said the visit was “designed to help Democrats” and claimed it amounted to “election interference”.

The row has threatened to overshadow Zelensky’s meeting with President Joe Biden on Thursday, during which he will present a “plan for victory” in his country’s war with Russia.

Since his arrival to the US on Sunday, Zelensky has ramped up efforts to persuade the US and other allies to lend more support to Ukraine as it fends off Russian advances.

While details of his “victory” plan have been kept under wraps, the strategy is likely to contain pleas for further military and financial support, plus future security guarantees.

On Thursday, Biden announced that the US will send $7.9bn (£5.9bn) worth of military aid to Ukraine in a surge of assistance as his presidency nears its end.

The weapons package will be approved through presidential drawdown authority and will pull from existing Pentagon supplies to deliver the arms more quickly.

Congressional Republicans blocked the Biden administration’s $61bn military package for months earlier this year, before ultimately relenting and passing the legislation in April. Before that, arms supplies to Ukraine had dried up for several months.

The US has been the largest foreign donor to Ukraine, with $56bn provided for its defence to date.

Sudan’s army launches major offensive to retake Khartoum

0
Sudan army launches offensive

Sudan’s army has launched a major offensive in the capital, Khartoum, to regain ground held by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), military sources have told Al Jazeera.

The army carried out air raids on Thursday against RSF positions in the capital and north of Khartoum in its biggest such assault in months.

Reporting from Khartoum, Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan said the army has taken control of three main bridges, including two that connect the city of Omdurman with the capital.

Its forces have “been advancing towards … the presidential palace where there has also been heavy fighting reported”, said Morgan.

The army attacked several military sites belonging to the RSF, the sources said, and the Sudanese Air Force was carrying out several flights over Khartoum.

At least four people were killed and 14 wounded during artillery shelling on Thursday morning by the RSF, which targeted residential neighbourhoods in the Karari Governorate, north of Omdurman, according to Khartoum State Health Ministry spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim. The injured were transferred to al-No Hospital, he said.

Though the army retook some ground in Omdurman early this year, it depends mostly on artillery and air raids and has been unable to dislodge more effective RSF ground forces embedded in Khartoum.

Military sources said the assault was “in the works for months”, said Morgan, against the din of artillery and fighter jets overhead.

Sudan plunged into conflict in April 2023, when long-simmering tensions between army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo broke out in a conflict that has so far displaced more than 10 million people – about 8.1 million people inside Sudan while about two million have been forced to flee the country, according to data from the United Nations.

Putin issues nuclear warning to the West over strikes on Russia from Ukraine

0
Russian President Vladimir Putin

President Vladimir Putin warned the West on Wednesday that Russia could use nuclear weapons if it was struck with conventional missiles, and that Moscow would consider any assault on it supported by a nuclear power to be a joint attack.

The decision to change Russia’s official nuclear doctrine is the Kremlin’s answer to deliberations in the United States and Britain about whether or not to give Ukraine permission to fire conventional Western missiles into Russia.

Putin, opening a meeting of Russia’s Security Council, said that the changes were in response to a swiftly changing global landscape which had thrown up new threats and risks for Russia.

The 71-year-old Kremlin chief, the primary decision-maker on Russia’s vast nuclear arsenal, said he wanted to underscore one key change in particular.

“It is proposed that aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear state, be considered as their joint attack on the Russian Federation,” Putin said.

Russia reserved the right to also use nuclear weapons if it or ally Belarus were the subject of aggression, including by conventional weapons, Putin said.

The United States in 2022 was so concerned about the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons by Russia that it warned Putin over the consequences of using such weapons, according to Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns.

How Can I Overcome Temptation?

0
Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee, Executive Director, Salt and Light Ministries

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”1 Corinthians 10:13:

Temptation is a universal experience. It confronts everyone, regardless of their faith, strength, or walk of life. The Bible addresses this reality head-on, offering both comfort and instruction. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, we read, “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man.”

This verse serves as a reminder that feeling tempted is not unique to any individual; it is part of the human condition. However, the good news is that God, through His Word and Spirit, has provided a way for us to resist and overcome temptation. Understanding where temptation comes from and how to handle it is critical to living a victorious Christian life.

Steps in overcoming temptation

  1. The first step in overcoming temptation is understanding where it originates. The Bible is clear: temptation does not come from God. James 1:13 tells us, “For God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.”While God allows trials to test our faith and refine our character, He does not tempt us to sin. Temptation primarily comes from two sources: Satan and our own sinful nature.

Satan, often referred to as the “tempter,” plays an active role in seeking to lead us astray. He tempted Job with God’s permission (Job 1:6-12), and he sought to tempt Jesus Himself in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). 1 Peter 5:8 warns us that the devil is like a prowling lion, seeking someone to devour. However, Satan’s temptations can be resisted through the strength and wisdom that God provides.

James 1:14 reveals the second source of temptation—our own sinful desires. Temptation begins in the heart. We are tempted when we are “carried away and enticed by our own lust.” This means that the battle against temptation is not just external; it’s also internal. Sinful desires can lead us down dangerous paths, even before we outwardly commit sinful acts. Therefore, to overcome temptation, we must address both the external forces (like Satan) and the internal forces (like our lustful desires).

  1. Jesus as Our Example

To effectively resist temptation, we need a model, and there is no greater example than Jesus Christ. When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11), Jesus demonstrated how to overcome temptation through the Word of God. Each of Satan’s temptations was met with the same response: “It is written,” followed by Scripture. Jesus didn’t rely on His feelings or debate with the tempter; He stood firmly on the authority of God’s Word.

This is a powerful lesson for us. When we face temptation, our feelings or reasoning can lead us astray, but the Word of God is unchanging. Just as Jesus used Scripture to defeat Satan’s lies, we too must immerse ourselves in God’s Word, studying, meditating, and applying it to our lives. Ephesians 6:17 calls the Word of God “the sword of the Spirit.” It is our primary weapon against temptation. If we are to effectively resist sin, we must be equipped with Scripture.

  1. Guarding Our Minds and Hearts

Another crucial aspect of overcoming temptation is guarding our minds and hearts from sources that can lead us into sin. The Apostle Paul advises in Colossians 3:2, “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” What we allow into our minds has a significant impact on our ability to resist temptation. If we constantly fill our minds with worldly messages from television, music, social media, or other forms of entertainment, we are opening ourselves to influences that can lead us away from God.

Instead, we should fill our minds with things that are holy and pure, meditating on God’s Word, focusing on His promises, and surrounding ourselves with positive influences. As we do this, the allure of the world’s temptations will diminish. Proverbs 4:14-15 offers wise advice: “Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not proceed in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not pass by it; Turn away from it and pass on.” If we intentionally avoid situations, environments, and influences that lead us into temptation, we are far more likely to overcome it.

  1. Prayer: A Key to Victory

One of the most powerful tools we have in overcoming temptation is prayer. On the night of His betrayal, Jesus told His disciples, “Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). Jesus understood that while our intentions may be good, our human weakness often leads us into sin. Prayer helps fortify our spirits and gives us the strength to resist temptation.

We should be in constant communication with God, asking Him to lead us away from situations where we might be tempted. This is reflected in the Lord’s Prayer, where Jesus teaches us to pray, “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13). Through prayer, we invite God’s guidance and protection over our hearts and minds.

Renewing Our Minds

Romans 12:2 urges believers, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The renewal of the mind is a daily process of aligning our thoughts with God’s truth, rejecting the values and systems of the world that lead us into sin. This renewal happens through the Holy Spirit working in us, transforming our hearts and minds as we engage with Scripture, prayer, and fellowship with other believers.

The transformation of the mind allows us to see the world from a God-centered perspective, making it easier to resist the pull of temptation. Instead of succumbing to the lusts of the flesh, we begin to desire what God desires, and our hearts are aligned with His will.

Taking Drastic Measures

In Matthew 5:29, Jesus gives a stark teaching on dealing with temptation: “If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

This is not to be taken literally, but it is a powerful metaphor for the seriousness of sin. Jesus is teaching that we must be willing to take drastic measures to avoid sin and temptation. If there are areas in our lives that consistently lead us into temptation, we must cut them off, even if it is difficult.

This might mean ending a relationship, avoiding certain places, or removing influences that cause us to stumble. While these decisions may seem drastic, they are necessary to protect our spiritual well-being.

Conclusion

Overcoming temptation is a lifelong battle, but God has given us the tools we need to succeed. By relying on Scripture, guarding our hearts and minds, praying for strength, and renewing our minds, we can resist the temptations that seek to lead us away from God. Remember, we are not alone in this fight.

Jesus, our High Priest, has been tempted in every way as we are, yet He was without sin (Hebrews 4:15). Through His example and the power of the Holy Spirit, we have the strength to overcome. So, let us stand firm, armed with the Word of God, and walk victoriously in the path He has set before us.

Stay Blessed!

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, 11 others remanded

0
Oliver Barker-Vormawor

Oliver Barker-Vormawor and 11 others have been placed in police custody after their legal team failed to persuade Judge Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah to grant them bail.

The Circuit Court remanded Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Cederic Bansah, Michael Amofo, Emmanuel Offei, Nii Ayi, Fred Boateng, Deportee Iddrisa Yusif, Wendele, Fanny Otoo, Samuel Samakor, Felicity Nelson, Nana Amo Mensah Prempeh and Thomas Yeboah after they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The charges include conspiracy, unlawful assembly, assault on a police officer, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct likely to breach the peace, theft and defacement of a public notice.

All the accused individuals are reported to be members of the pressure group, Democracy Hub Protesters.

As of now, Fanny Otoo, the ninth accused (A9), has not appeared in court, due to his admission to the police hospital.

They were remanded yesterday after State Attorney, Nana Akusua Kusi, opposed the bail application, leading to a tense argument among the lawyers.

The arrest and prosecution of Oliver and others follows a notification from Democracy Hub to the Police Service regarding their planned demonstration titled “We Taya: Reoccupy Jubilee House.”

The group requested police support for the event, set to take place at Revolutionary Square, opposite Jubilee House.

However, following consultations, the Police advised the group to consider alternative venues due to security concerns and the potential for public disorder.

On September 18, 2024 a High Court order prohibited the protest at the originally designated location.

In response, the Police offered seven alternative sites for the demonstration, but the group rejected these suggestions, opting instead to hold the protest at the 37 Roundabout.

The protest began on September 21, but quickly escalated as demonstrators attempted to breach police barricades, leading to chaotic scenes.

Protesters blocked major roads with stones and vehicles, causing significant traffic disruptions across Liberation Road and surrounding areas.

Reports indicated that demonstrators vandalized property, including billboards and electoral materials.

Tensions rose further on September 22 when protesters obstructed roadways once again, prompting police intervention.

During the clashes, the first accused allegedly entered a police towing van, disabled it and fled with the ignition key, complicating efforts to restore order.

Feature: Electoral Commission – An Onerous Task

0
Africanus Owusu Ansah (Hot Issues)

In Greek mythology, Atlas was forced by Zeus to carry the world upon his shoulders. It was his punishment for Atlas and Menoetius siding with the Titan In their war against the Olympians. In the 16th century, Gerardus Mercator put together his first collection of maps and dedicated it to Atlas:

“Atlas sivecosmographicae Meditationes de Fabrica Mundi et Fabricati”. In psychology, Atlas is used as a metaphor to describe the “personality of someone whose childhood was characterized by excessive responsibilities”. Atlantic Ocean derives its name from Atlas.

Is the Electoral Commission holding Ghana on its shoulders? Or, to put it another way, say the Electoral Commission has a herculean task to perform. A herculean task is a difficult task. In Greek mythology, Hercules was the son of Zeus (the King of the gods) and Alkmene, a mortal woman.

The Romans adopted Hercules from Heracles. He was a multifaceted personality with contradictory characteristics. He was a champion of the weak as well as a great protector. Hercules was able to untie the ‘knot’ (known as the knot of Hercules). Apollodius, the mythographer, quotes 12 labours that Hercules had to perform, the first being the slaying of the Nemean lion and the last, capturing and bringing back Cerberus. Enough of the mythologies.

The ballot for the presidential slot for the presidential candidates was held last week (NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was placed first (Number 1) and the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Mahama was placed eight (Number 8). At the end of the ballot the table showed:

1. Mahamudu Bawumia (NPP) 2. Daniel Augustus Lartey (GCPP) 3. Akua Donkor (GFP), 4. Christian Kwabena Andrews (GUM), 5. Kofi Akpaloo (LPG). 6. Mohammed Frimpong (NDP) 7. Nana Akosua FrimpomaaKumankuma (CPP); 8. John Dramani Mahama (NDC), 9. Hassan Ayariga (APC); 10. Kofi Koranteng (Independent); 11. George Twum Barima – Adu (Independent) 12. Nana Kwame Bediako (Independent) 13. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

To put it mildly, we would say, there was “drama” and ended with the EC changing the transparent glass bowl in which the balls had been placed for a green opaque plastic bag. Plastic bag! Goodness and mercy! Well, the ‘gurus’ were there and they did not complain: Mac Manu, a veteran of elections and Evans Nimako for the NPP; Dr.Omane-Boamah and Fiifi Kwetey for the NDC, Dr.Omane Boamah dismissed the allegation of swap of balls between NPP Evans Nimako and LPG Akpaloo.

We recall the 1992 presidential election in which NPP presidential candidates, Professor AduBoahen got the Number 1 slot while the NDC’s presidential candidate, Fl. Lt. J. J. Rawlings got Number 4 slot

At the end of the election, J. J. Rawlings won with 58% of the votes with AduBoahen, second with 38.29%. Voter turnout was 50% it was ‘’eshiee, eshiee, eshiee, eshiewrado, wrado,’’ for the NPP and ‘’eheedzobodoo’’ for the NDC.  In the 2000 election, Kufuor was the last on the ballot and the campaign was “asieho aa” and “Ewuradekasa”?

It was ‘’ Arise, arise for Ghana (NDC).  Opposition NPP accused Rawlings’s NDC of ‘’massive fraud “(ballot stuffing in opaque ballot boxes) and altering results after they had been certified. This led to the writing of the ‘’Stolen Verdict’’ which highlighted serious allegations of election malpractices, finally compelling the NPP to boycott the parliamentary elections which were held separately later.

At the last ballot (for 2024 election) 10 of the contestants were disqualified for one reason or another and Bernard Mornah is in court. In Kumasi, the NPP has taken the EC to court over ‘’transfer’’ of voters and the court has ruled against the illegal transfer of 1000 voters in Manhyia South constituency.

Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkor ordered the Electoral Commission to revert the affected voters to their original constituencies. Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah (NPP Parliamentary candidate for Manhyia South) raised the alarm bell for the illegality, allegedly orchestrated by the NDC.

The NDC is demanding a forensic audit of the electoral register. The feurs start from the appointment of “dyed-in-the wool foot soldiers” like Dr. Peter Appiahene. The EC is dragging its feet on this and Samson Lardy Ayenini says “the EC thrives on public trust”. Samson stresses “Elections are about the voters not the EC”.

He asks “What does the EC lose in granting a request that could improve its own credibility badly affected by certain appointments that got civil society demanding a reversal of the decision of the President’’ Of course, there are a whole lot of people asking “does the EC have anything to hide?”

In “Enough is Enough” demo last week, the NDC charges: there are corrupt files that do not show names and photos of registered voters; 2,094 voters transferred to different polling stations but not deleted from 2024 Provisional Register due to transfer, 15,000 plus unidentifiable voter transfer paths (due to false registration of voters, leaving the question where they were originally registered unanswered); 243,540 previous transfers illegally added to 2024 transfers, including repetition of illegal transferred names.

The demo was replicated in all parts of the country. In Accra, a petition was handed over to the Electoral Commission reading; “Petition from the Good Peace-loving People of Ghana to the Electoral Commission for an urgent Forensic Audit of the 2024 Electoral Register and its Information Technology (IT) System.”

In conclusion the NDC says; “we trust that this petition will receive the attention it deserves to preserve the credibility and integrity of Ghana’s democratic process…..” And NPP will not leave the EC to answer the charges since they concede that an EC official at Pusiga district Electoral Office had illegally transferred voters there to another station.

Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the African Union’s High Representative for Silencing the Guns (AUHRSG) has made an appeal to President Nana Akufo-Addo to “take all necessary measures to prevent violence and bloodshed during the upcoming Elections”.

Dr. Ibn Chambas recalled the tragic loss of lives during the 2020 elections and described it as “a regrettable stain on Ghana’s impressive history of peaceful electoral processes”, adding that “…it should not be under your watch…that Ghana will experience violence and mayhem.” He also called on the security agencies to maintain their neutrality, and stressed that the “use of lethal weapons is totally uncalled for”.

He finally stressed that ensuring a credible election is a collective responsibility. The young men now running NPP should not fall into the category of “babies with sharp teeth”, an NDC sobriquet.

In the case of Akpaloo v Electoral Commission (2001-2002) SCGLR 1, the Supreme Court held: “…the court should and would protect the right to vote at all costs as it has previously protected the right to register otherwise, democracy in this country would be undermined”.

And in Abu Ramad and Nimako v Electoral Commission, (2013-2014) 2 SCGLR, the Supreme Court held that “every citizen of Ghana who is eighteen years and above and of sound mind has the right to vote (Article 42 of the 1992 Constitution) and a meaningful actualization of the Article 42 rights would require, inter alia, that the first defendant Electoral Commission establish credible and reliable structures, systems, processes and procedures from translating the constitutionally guaranteed rights into reality… ”

Would we want Atuguba, the retired Supreme Court judge to “educate” us again on our constitutional rights?
