King Paluta has often exhibited Daddy Lumba’s style in his music prompting a lot of people to suggest there is a striking similarity to their type of music.

I was robbed of 2015 VGMA Artiste of the Year award -Edem

Edem

Ghanaian rapper Edem Goget’em, has stated in a recent post on X that he should have won the Artiste of the Year slot in the 2015 Ghana Music Awards.

Likening his situation to this year’s Ballon d’Or which Vinicius Jnr did not win contrary to the expectation of a lot of people, he alluded in the post that even though he merited the Artiste of the Year award, it went to a different artiste.

“Why #BallondOr come dey behave like the way VGMA take do me 2015 Artist of the Year? This is a heinous crime!! A daylight robbery!! … Vinicius Jr is the REAL WINNER’? ” he wrote.

In 2015, the nominees for the Artiste of the Year category in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were Daddy Lumba, Stonebwoy, Guru, Edem, MzVee, Sarkodie and Samini.

Stonebwoy who won Artiste of the Year slot said in his speech, “I believe that the other artistes are happy I won…Behold how tall we have grown…This is well deserved.”

Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Edem who were the biggest winners on the night, took home three (3) awards each.

Edem’s ‘Koene’ had several nominations as the remix of his song, ‘The One’ also earned him a nomination in the Best Rapper Category.

Botswana elections: Ruling party seeks to extend 58 years in power

BotswanaPresident Mokgweetsi Masisi

Botswana is voting in a general election in which President Mokgweetsi Masisi is seeking a second term and his ruling party hopes to extend its nearly six decades in power.

Masisi, 63, is competing against three challengers on Wednesday for another five-year term. His Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) – which has governed the country of 2.3 million people for 58 years, since independence from British rule in 1966 – remains the favourite despite its decreasing popularity.

The BDP faces a divided opposition with its biggest challenge coming from the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), a coalition led by lawyer Duma Boko.

Also running for president are Dumelang Saleshando of the Botswana Congress Party and Mephato Reatile from the Botswana Patriotic Front.

The BDP – among Africa’s longest ruling parties – retains a majority in parliament, having won 38 of 57 contested seats in 2019.

At least 64 dead after torrential rain and floods in Spain

0
Floods caused the river to overflow its banks

At least 64 people have died in flash floods that swept through Spain’s eastern region of Valencia after torrential rain, authorities have said.

Heavy storms on Tuesday triggered floods across parts of southern and eastern Spain. Footage shared on social media showed vehicles being swept away down streets by the mud-coloured water.

More than 1,000 soldiers from Spain’s emergency response units were deployed to affected areas and the central government set up a crisis committee to help coordinate rescue efforts.

Emergency services in Valencia urged citizens to avoid any kind of road travel and to follow further updates from official sources.

At least 62 people have died in the floods, Valencia’s regional government said in a statement on Wednesday. Another two deaths were reported in the neighbouring Castilla La Mancha region.

Carlos Mazon, the regional leader of Valencia, told a news conference that some people remained isolated in inaccessible locations.

“If [emergency services] have not arrived, it’s not due to a lack of means or predisposition, but a problem of access,” Mazon said, adding that reaching certain areas was “absolutely impossible”.

The elderly were also the most vulnerable. National broadcaster RTVE showed a video of a nursing home with several seniors in chairs and wheelchairs with waters rising over their knees as staff struggled to ensure their safety.

Spain will observe three days of mourning from Thursday, Angel Victor Torres, minister for territorial policy and democratic memory has announced.

China declares success as its youngest astronauts reach space

Chinese astronauts in space

A Chinese spacecraft with a three-person crew, including the country’s first female space engineer, has docked after a journey of more than six hours.

The crew will use the homegrown space station as a base for six months to conduct experiments and carry out spacewalks as Beijing gathers experience and intelligence for its eventual mission to put someone on the Moon by 2030.

Beijing declared the launch of Shenzhou 19 a “complete success” – it is one of 100 launches China has planned in a record year of space exploration as it tries to outdo its rival, the United States.

The BBC was given rare access to the Jiuquan Satellite launch centre in Gansu and we were just over a kilometre away when the spacecraft blasted off.

Flames shot out of the rocket launcher as it took to the skies, lighting up the Gobi Desert with a deafening roar.

Hundreds of people lined the streets, waving and cheering the names of the taikonauts, China’s word for astronauts, as they were sent off.

At the Tiangong space station, the Shenzhou 19 crew met with three other astronauts who are manning the Shenzhou 18 and will return to Earth on 4 November.

Just two years ago, President Xi Jinping declared that “to explore the vast cosmos, develop the space industry and build China into a space power is our eternal dream”.

But some in Washington see the country’s ambition and fast-paced progress as a real threat.

Earlier this year, Nasa chief Bill Nelson said the US and China were “in effect, in a race” to return to the Moon, where he fears Beijing wants to stake territorial claims.

He told legislators that he believed their civilian space programme was also a military programme.

US warns Israel over Gaza aid as deadline nears

0
Humanitarian situation in Gaza getting worse

Israel must immediately address the “catastrophic humanitarian situation” in Gaza, the US envoy to the UN has warned, as the deadline approaches to improve the flow of aid or face cuts to American military assistance.

The US has given its ally until 12 November to “surge” all assistance, with a minimum of 350 lorries entering Gaza daily. But the UN says only 10% of that number have crossed each day on average since then.

Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, said it was going “above and beyond its humanitarian obligations” and blamed Hamas.

Mr Danon also rejected international criticism of the Israeli parliament’s decision to ban the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) from working in Israel.

Israel’s allies have warned that Unrwa plays a critical role in delivering humanitarian assistance to Gaza, where it is the largest humanitarian organisation on the ground.

In a briefing to the UN Security Council in New York on Tuesday, UN Middle East peace envoy Tor Wennesland said he had witnessed a “horrific humanitarian nightmare” during a recent visit to Gaza.

He said the north of the Palestinian territory had received virtually no humanitarian assistance since the start of October, when the Israeli military began a ground offensive in the Jabalia area that it said was aimed at stopping Hamas fighters from regrouping there.

The operation has killed scores of Palestinians, caused mass displacement and led to the closure of essential services, including water wells and medical facilities.

The US ambassador said the reports of children going days without food in Jabalia had made her think about how she had seen a girl die of starvation almost three decades ago.

Ms Thomas-Greenfield said the Biden administration had made clear to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel must address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza immediately and that the US “rejects any Israeli efforts to starve Palestinians in Jabalia, or anywhere else”.

“The US has stated clearly that Israel must allow food, medicine and other supplies into all of Gaza – especially the north, and especially as winter sets in – and protect the workers distributing it,” she added.

Five passengers submerged in Owabi River

0
Rescuers combing through the submerged car to pull out dead bodies

Residents of the Ashanti regional district of Atwima Nwabiagya woke up to disturbing news on Tuesday, following an accident that claimed five lives after a vehicle submerged in the River Owabi.

Having heard about the accident that occurred a few meters away from the River Owabi bridge, people from far and near, some of whom were weeping uncontrollably, thronged to the scene to help save the situation.

In a video sighted by The Chronicle, the bodies of the deceased were seen lying on the floor with plantain leaves covering them.

Reached on the phone, Mr. Francis Bobie-Ansah, the presiding member for Atwima Nwabiagya, who spoke to The Chronicle about the incident, explained that the Toyota Vits vehicle with registration number AS-7403-21 was submerged when it came into contact with a tipper truck.

Bobie-Ansah explained the driver of the tipper truck blew horns heavily, a development that might have scared the driver to ditch the car into the river.

Quizzed about the proximity of the accident to the guardrail mounted on the bridge of the Owabi River, Bobie-Ansah responded that it was about five meters away.

Mr. Ansah identified the deceased people who were on the vehicle when it was drawn into the said river, adding that the incident occurred on the Akropong-Darbaa road, where the River Owabi is located.

He disclosed the deceased as: Helena Yasan (40), a seamstress; Boamah Gyasi Eric (28), a plumber; Lordina Yasan (10), a pupil; Rita Agyare (41), a teacher. The fifth passenger added that a five-year-old girl named Doreen Yesan, who went missing after the incident, has been found and transported to the Mount Sinai mortuary, where the corpses of the deceased are being kept.

Asked about how rescuers came to the scene, he explained that a distress call was placed to the security agencies and volunteer group, who dived into the River Owabi, which was flowing in huge volume.

According to him, when the incident occurred, the town folks rushed to the scene and swam in the river and detected that a car had been submerged, and they managed to pull it up, after which they retrieved four bodies from the soggy vehicle.

NDF calls for Peace in Bawku

0
Major Don-Chebe (Rtd)

The Northern Development Forum (NDF), a non-partisan organisation that brings together people from the five Northern Regions of Ghana to promote peace and development in the north, has called for peace in Bawku.

In a statement issued and shared with The Chronicle, under the signatory of Major Albert Don-Chebe (Rtd.), the Chairman of NDF, he expressed worry over recurring cataclysm in the border town, which has resulted in the deaths of innocent citizens in Bawku.

It has subsequently asked all and sundry to embrace peace and called for de-escalation by smoking the peace pipe.

In a clarion call for peace in Bawku, Don-Chebe (Rtd) appealed: “Brothers and sisters, put the guns and swords aside and let us join hands to make our communities better places for our future generations.”

Additionally, it also implored northern compatriots to assess the repercussions of the unrest on the development of the area.

“The NDF once again wishes to admonish our Northern compatriots to reflect deeply on the consequences of the resort to violence to resolve matters arising from minor ethnic, traditional, and cultural differences.

In an assertion calling for tolerance and peaceful coexistence, Major Albert Don-Chebe (Rtd.) asked that people of the north cherish the richness and diversity of their cultures and histories.

This, according to him, indicates that their cultural and historical diversities are an invitation for mutual respect, cooperation, learning, and sharing of our unique identities, adding that these differences should never provide any grounds for power struggles and domineering.

The statement further indicated the people of Bawku and its environs have witnessed untold suffering in the years gone by, adding that there are no signs that this carnage will end anytime soon because the acts of provocation and impunity appear to be intensifying by the day.

“We are much appalled that scarce resources have to be diverted from promoting livelihoods and development to the endless security and so-called mediation efforts. Citizens of Northern Ghana are completely dismayed and traumatised by the intensity of the recent clashes and call upon the government to exercise its authority to sanitise the Bawku area for peace to prevail.

The NDF Chairman noted that they are greatly concerned by the seeming absence of discernible government strategy and programme aimed at removing the agent provocateurs in the Bawku area.

In an assertion calling for northerners to wake up from their slumber to save the situation themselves. Major Albert Don-Chebe (Rtd.) called for synergy to confront the challenge.

“Unless we, the people of Northern Ghana, unite in one accord in the pursuit of peace and development, we will dissipate our energies and resources in never-ending conflicts founded upon dubious historical narratives that have no relevance for the accelerated development of our communities as we so desire.

How to Keep Your Bones Strong as You Age

0

As you age, you may worry about health conditions such as heart disease or cancer. But there’s one that should be front and center on your radar: osteoporosis, a disease that weakens your bones.

Half of all women and a quarter of all men over the age of 50 will break a bone at some point due to osteoporosis. Yet there’s a lot you can do to protect your bones, even later in life, says Andrea Singer, MD, clinical director of the National Osteoporosis Foundation.

“As you age, you begin to lose more bone than you form, which raises the risk of osteoporosis,” she says. “But you can slow down that rate of bone loss if you take certain preventative steps.”

This is particularly important for women, as they can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the first 5 to 7 years after menopause.

These steps can help you keep your bones strong and healthy.

Eat the Right Foods

An anti-inflammatory diet, one that’s rich in vegetables, fruits, fish, nuts, and whole grains, slows down bone loss in post-menopausal women.

“This type of eating pattern is high in proteincalcium, and micronutrients such as vitamin K and magnesium, all of which are key to maintain bone health,” Singer says.

Women over the age of 50 and men over the age of 70 need 1,200 milligrams of calcium a day (men younger than that should still get at least 1,000 milligrams). The best way to get it is through food.

An 8-ounce cup of skim milk has 300 milligrams, a 6-ounce cup of low-fat plain yogurt has 310 milligrams, 3 ounces of canned salmon with bones has 180 milligrams, and 8 ounces of fortified orange juice has 300 milligrams.

Add fruits and veggies that are high in potassium, like bananas, sweet potatoes, and spinach, and foods high in magnesium such as nuts, seeds, dried beans, and whole grains. Research suggests that both nutrients are associated with better bone density.

And don’t forget the protein. “Many older adults don’t get enough, but we know it’s important to help bone repair and remodel itself,” says Robert Adler, MD, chief of endocrinology and metabolism at McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

A Korean study of almost 7,000 adults found that those who got around 20% of their total daily calories from protein were at the lowest risk to develop osteoporosis. Experts recommend about 54 grams of protein a day for a 150-pound adult.

Muscle Up

Exercise is key to maintaining bone density. Like your muscles, your bones also respond to exercise by becoming stronger. The best exercise for your bones is weight-bearing activity such as walking or lifting weights for 30 minutes most days of the week, Adler says. (If you’ve already had a spine fracture, talk to a professional before you try weight training. Certain moves that encourage your spine to bend forward, like bicep curls, aren’t good.)

Regular physical activity like walking is linked with reduced risk of hip and total fracture in postmenopausal women. But if you’re in good enough shape, don’t be afraid to take it up a notch. An Australian study showed that 30 minutes twice a week of high intensity resistance and impact training (moves like deadlifts, overhead presses, back squats, and jumping chin-ups) improved bone density, structure, and strength in postmenopausal women with low bone mass, without injury.

Focus on Balance

People over 55 with poor balance are more than two times as likely to have an osteoporosis related fracture than those without balance issues. They’re around three times more likely to have a hip fracture. “Good balance is key to prevent a fall, which can cause a fracture, even if you don’t already have osteoporosis,” Adler says.

You can easily check your balance with this simple self-test: Place one foot in front of the other, heel touching toe, for 10 seconds. If you can’t do that, or if you can’t stand on one foot for 10 seconds, you’re at higher risk of falling.

If this is you, talk to your doctor. One option is to join a class or group that practices tai chi to help with coordination and balance, Singer says. Research shows that older adults who practice tai chi can significantly reduce their risk of falls.

If you’ve already taken at least one tumble, Adler says it’s a good idea to do some physical therapy to strengthen your muscles and improve your balance. One study found that people over the age of 65 who did physical therapy were less likely to be injured when they fell compared to a control group.

Once Saved Always Saved? Not So Continues

0
Pastor David Leroy Matthews

This is from our last article. (Some years later, I saw Ken Copland’s wife with another woman. They were rejoicing that Selton was up in heaven teaching the Angels the book of Revelation).

John 3:13 tells us the Truth, (and no man) hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from Heaven.

The belief that the born-again believers who died in Christ are in heaven is a common misunderstanding, and a lie of the Devil. The people that Selton Hutton convinced that they were low on the Spirit of God was another lie, (Christ in you).

I want you readers to understand who runs the world at this time, and will until YAHSHUA returns (Jesus).

Luke 4:1-14

1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were finished, he afterward hungered.

3 And the devil said unto him, if thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

5 And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6 And the devil said unto him, all this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 And in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region roundabout.

So now you know who runs this world.

Matthew 24:1-51

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to [him] to show him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.

3 And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying; tell us, when shall these things be? And what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceives you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places.

8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the entire world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand 🙂

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house:

18 Neither let him, who is in the field, return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here [is] Christ, or there; believe [it] not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, [he is] in the secret chambers; believe [it] not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wherever the carcass is, there will be the eagles gathered together.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two [women shall be] grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed [is] that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayed his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite [his] fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for [him], and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint [him] his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The word ‘Christ’ in verse 5, – verse 23 is the word meaning “ANOINTED ONE” the (Messiah), in verse 24: “FALSE CHRIST” (FALSE ANOINTED ONES).

We are living in the time of the last days. There are hundreds of countries with thousands of people reading these articles, living in war zones, storms, earthquakes, droughts, tornadoes, crime, murder etc.

In the 4th chapter of Songs of Solomon, you will see Solomon was in love with a woman of “Lebanon”. At this very moment, Israel is fighting against the Lebanese.

We have false leaders telling us that Shelton is up in heaven teaching Angels the book of Revelation.

Romans 1:18-32

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was met.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knows the judgment of God, that they who commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (To be continued)
