Be Careful What You Wish For!!!

As the Election Day is drawing close, we hear some politicians and so-called men of God, making some ridiculously stupid pronouncements that could haunt them, one day.

Sammy Gyamfi was in a studio, the other day, saying, if he dies and gets to Heaven and sees, Nana Addo and Bawumia there, he would reject this glorious land and rather go to hell. I will strongly ask him to quickly fall on his face and with humility and contrite heart, pray to God for forgiveness. What he said is a blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which is a serious sin which cannot be forgiven here in this life and in the life hereafter (Matthew 12: 31-32).

In his profile in Wikipedia, Sammy attended St. James Seminary and SHS, in Sunyani, Bono. If he is not Catholic, he must surely be very familiar with the praying of the Holy Rosary, which I will recommend he prays it daily and at each intercession he must ask for forgiveness. If he is a Catholic, he should access the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well, and come public again, and withdraw that blasphemous statement.

What Sammy Gyamfi is saying here is that God has no right to invite certain souls, like Nana Addo and Bawumia to Heaven. Sammy has appointed himself the authority to decide who goes to Heaven and who goes to hell. This is serious, for God is most just and merciful and He and only He alone, knows the hearts of men, and knows those to accept and those to reject, in accordance to their conduct in this life. It is said, that saints have a past and sinners have a future.

The one we may see as a great saint, might have had a horrible past, but got transformed through the grace and mercy of God. And the one we may see as a horrible sinner may encounter and accept the grace of God, even at the last minute and be transformed into a saint. We are notto judge any one and access whether they can be saved. There is this case of an armed robber, with a horrible past who got saved just at his hour of death. He was Dismas, the Good Thief. Dying on a cross along side Jesus, Dismas rebuked his partner in crime, Gestas, who was also dying on a cross, but chose to mock Jesus. Acknowledging his sins, Dismas pleaded for mercy, and Jesus knowing his penitent heart, absolved all his sins and made his soul very clean (Luke 23: 42-43).

What is very interesting here is that, Jesus went to Heaven with none of His followers, but an outsider who was a great sinner, who robbed, killed and most likely raped women when he went on operation.

Invitation to Heaven is God’s gift to those He finds just and if Sammy Gyamfi says if he is found in the state of grace and invitedby God to Heaven, he will reject that offer, because of two souls he detests, then he better not only examine his brains but his soul as well. Unless, he seriously confesses and asks for forgiveness now, those words can lead him to damnation.

Such stupid and silly political comments do not make one any superior, but rather very foolish and impenitent in the sight of God. Sammy Gyamfi, should be careful what he wishes for.

Another ridiculously proud and arrogant Ghanaian is Rev. Owusu Bempah. He should know that his conduct does not make him what he claims to be, a man and prophet of God. People called by God to work in the Lord’s vineyard are always humble and strictly adhere to offering their services to God to reflect on how Christ lived here on earth. Pride, the root of all vices, is not found in them, but rather they are filled with humility, the source of all virtues.

For boasting about, beginning to celebrate NDC’s Mahama’s victory and mocking the NPP could backfire in his face, by this time next week. But in all seriousness, he comes to tells us that should Mahama fail to win, he, Owusu Bempah will stop becoming a man of God. The question is, is he truly a man of God?

Here is someone who correctly predicted that NPP would win 2016 and 2020 elections, but say it is a prophecy from God. He placed himself around the president to be acknowledged as the presidential prophet. When the NPP all his demands were not met, he is now predicting NDC and Mahama to win the December 7, elections.

Unfortunately, his conduct could make Mahama lose and I will ask Sammy Gyamfi to blame Rev. Owusu Bempah for that loss instead of fabricating stories about the EC. Rev. Owusu Bempah should be careful what he wishes for.

The NDC parliamentary candidate for Hohoe, Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo, in June 2020, offered himself to be castrated if the EC was able to compile a new voters’ register. He was protesting with his party against the new register. Mr. Tsekpo, however was among the first to be registered in his constituency and watched on as the register was successfully compiled. To date he has failed to offer himself for castration; we are still waiting.Hemust also be told to be careful what he wishes for.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab

The Lagos State government has neither banned sachet water nor have any plans to do so, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab has said.

Wahab stated this in a post on X on Sunday while reacting to a viral video showing some individuals bursting sachet water packs at factories and on buses.

He debunked claims that the individuals were enforcement officers from any Lagos State Government agency or the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

According to the Commissioner, investigations revealed that the individuals in question are enforcement officers from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) who are on enforcement exercise targeting sachet water that does not comply with NAFDAC regulations, and in the interest public health and safety.

“As outlined in the Ministry’s release following the Engagement Workshop held on October 3, 2024, we remain committed to addressing plastic waste through sustainable and inclusive measures.

“It is important to emphasize that Lagos State has not banned sachet water and does not have plans to do so. Our focus remains on effective plastic waste management,” Wahab stated.

He disclosed that the Lagos State government is implementing mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for producers of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), sachets, and carrier bags of no less than 40 microns.

“To further support this initiative, the Lagos State Government, in collaboration with Producers and Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs), is establishing a Plastic Waste Management Fund.

“This fund will be financed by contributions from producers and major importers, and it will be jointly managed to address the growing challenges of plastic waste in the State. Members of the public should disregard any misinformation suggesting a ban on sachet water in Lagos State.

“The Ministry is fully committed to fostering dialogue and working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure sustainable waste management while supporting the economic interests of Lagosians,” he added.

The Lagos State government ohad in January announced a ban on the usage and distribution of Styrofoam and other single use plastics in the state.

According to Wahab who made the announcement, the decision was reached following the menace which the single use plastics especially the non-biogradeable Styrofoam was causing on the environment.

Dancehall isn’t the problem of Ghana’s music industry –Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy

Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has rejected claims that the genre he represents has become a problem for Ghana’s music industry.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on HitzFM’s Daybreak Hitz, Stonebwoy highlighted how dancehall festivals generate significant income across various sectors of the economy.

“Dancehall has put money in the pockets of hotels and airlines that bring foreigners to the country. It pays people to work during that week and creates numerous job opportunities,” he stated.

The ‘Pull Up’ hit-maker argued that the ecosystem surrounding dancehall is far-reaching and supports many livelihoods.

He dismissed the notion that it is the cause of challenges in Ghana’s music industry.

Stonebwoy suggested that the criticism might stem from a belief that Ghanaian music should be defined by a single genre. However, he disagreed with this perspective.

“I do not believe in that at all. Even if I used to, I don’t anymore. The idea of having one genre to push Ghanaian music is unrealistic. We need everyone,” he explained.

He further noted that countries like the United States, which dominate the global entertainment industry, do not promote a single genre.

Stonebwoy emphasized that there is nothing wrong with Ghanaian artistes exploring diverse genres such as afrobeat, dancehall, or hip hop.

“A country blessed with a rich cultural heritage should be allowed to express it in diverse ways,” he stated.

France returns ancient artefacts to Ethiopia

0
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot handed over two prehistoric stone axes, called bifaces, and a stone cutter to Ethiopia’s Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa, during a visit to the national museum in Addis Ababa.

The tools are “samples of nearly 3,500 artifacts from the excavations that were carried out on the Melka Kunture site”, a cluster of prehistoric sites south of the capital that were excavated under the direction of a late French researcher, Barrot said.

France and Ethiopia hold a longstanding bilateral agreement on cooperating in the fields of archaeology and paleontology.

The artifacts, currently stored at the French embassy in Addis Ababa, will be delivered in their entirety to the Ethiopian Heritage Directorate on Tuesday.

“This is a handover, not a restitution, in that these objects have never been part of French public collections,” Laurent Serrano, culture advisor at the French embassy, told AFP.

“These artifacts, which date back between 1 and 2 million years, were found during excavations carried out over several decades at a site near the Ethiopian capital,” he added.

Romanians vote in parliamentary elections as far right hopes to make gains

0
Romanians vote

Romanians are voting in a parliamentary election a week after the first round of the presidential election saw right-wing candidate Calin Georgescu emerge at the top.

Sunday’s vote will elect a new government and prime minister and determine the formation of the country’s legislature comprising the 323-seat lower house and the senate (133 seats). Romanians will elect lawmakers for both chambers on Sunday. Those who are abroad have been able to vote since Saturday.

The governing coalition of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) is competing to get better of the far-right Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR).

The PSD and the PNL, which formed an unlikely coalition in 2021, have dominated post-communist politics in Romania – a member of the European Union and NATO.

Georgescu, who is a former member of AUR and was its PM pick before he left in 2022, ran as an independent in the November 24 election, challenging entrenched mainstream parties. He garnered 23 percent of the votes in the first round of the presidential vote.

His unexpected success last Sunday aroused suspicions of interference in the campaign, prompted a vote recount and led to a defeated candidate asking the country’s top court to rerun the first round of voting.
