The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has amicably resolved the long-standing land dispute among communities in the Kwabre enclave of the Ashanti region.
The age long dispute bordered on boundaries between the various communities.
Presiding over the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on Monday, Otumfuo explained that Mamponteng and Abrade shared a boundary with Wabe River just as Mamponten and Heman shared a common boundary with the same Wabe River.
Otumfuo further said Heman and Abrade have the Asuo Abena River, Asuo Afuo River and Oti Akwam River as their boundaries. Bomfa and Heman, Otumfuo said, are bounded by Wora Akwasi River while Heman and Adumakaasekese are separated by an Ntome Tree and Asuo Kwaku River emphasising that the boundaries are natural landmarks, which make the demarcation undisputable.
The King, referring to available documentation further stressed that Mamponteng had no cause to claim lands beyond Wabe River with Hemang and thus settling the dispute once and for all.
Nana Saasi Ayeboafo II, chief of Mamponteng who had contested the matter with the Hemanhene for some time now raised no objection to the Asantehene’s declaration at the sitting.
Nana Apau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan, chief of Heman expressed his profound appreciation to Otumfuo for the verdict, which emphasised that the chief of Heman is the sole custodian of Heman Stool lands thus bringing the Mamponten-Heman land litigation to an end.
