Osei Adutwum Senior High School founded by the former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has benefitted from the Divine Intervention Borehole project by SOTA International. It was commissioned and handed over to the school last week by Dr. Kelli Ducloux, the founder and CEO of the American NGO.
The siting of the borehole at the school, was recommended by Madam Sutherland Adwoa Dawn, Executive Director of Bridge-To-Africa Connection (BTAC) who traces her roots to Jachie in the Ashanti Region. Madam Dawn assured of her continued support for the development of the school and Jachie in general.
She hoped the borehole will help improve sanitation and hygiene and impact lives of several generations. Elated Dr. Kelli was grateful to God for helping her to fulfil her vision of constructing 50 Wells (boreholes) across Africa. She reminded the students of their role and responsibility to impact the lives of others after school and further help the school to grow.
The Headmaster, Mr. Kenneth Adu Poku, on behalf of the Board of Directors, Management, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff as well as the student body, expressed appreciation to SOTA International and BTAC for the provision of water for use by the 644 female students.
Headmaster Adu Poku, however, appealed for support in the construction of a 12-seater place of convenience for the Girls’ dormitory.
The Girls’ Prefect, Miss Rose Abingo, on behalf of the 1,174 student population expressed gratitude to their benefactor for the kindness, love and generosity for giving them water and, by extension life, and turning their needs into a cherished legacy.
The occasion was graced by Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Chief of Jachie and Otumfuo Kyeame and his Council of Elders. Also present at commissioning ceremony were Mr. Charles Adu Gyamfi, PTA chairman; Desmond Osei Tutu, Assistant Headmaster (Academics); Mrs. Adwoa Gyamfua Agyenim Boateng, Assistant Headmistress (Domestic) and Mrs. Selina Prah, Assistant Headmistress (Administration).
In another development, SOTA International has funded and commissioned a GHc48,000 borehole project for the Sawua D/A 2 Primary School. The NGO also donated GHC6,000 to the head teacher of the school for the purchase of school uniforms for distribution to needy pupils.
The chief of Sawua, Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Kelli Ducloux’ gesture and support to the local primary school by presenting Kente cloth to her.
The chief indicated the Kente cloth gift was a sign of the bond of friendship between the chief and people of Sawua and Dr. Kelli’s NGO. The SMC/PTA chairman, Frederick Akwasi Peprah and the School Improvement and Support officer (SISO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Alex Boateng as well as the Gyasehene of Sawua, Nana Sarfo Acheampong pledged to ensure the proper maintenance of the mechanised borehole donated by SOTA International.
