The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has elected its Presiding Member (PM), in the person of Richard Nyarko, Assemblyman for Deduako-Kodiekrom. The three other contenders could not attain the two-thirds votes cast to emerge as the Presiding Member.
Richard Nyarko, who secured the highest number of votes, went into the runoff with one other contender last Friday, as required by the law.
Richard Nyarko garnered 21-Yes votes, 1-No vote and 1-Asbent vote to facilitate his re-election as the Presiding Member of Oforikrom Municipal Assembly.
The newly-elected Presiding Member expressed his appreciation to Assembly members for their support, noting that he will work hand-in-hand with all the members, as well as the Chief Executive, to ensure the progress of the Assembly.
He indicated that he will endeavour to ensure that the Assembly’s office at Appiadu and other developmental projects within the municipality are completed.
