Ace Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah has revealed the difficulties he faced at the beginning of his music career, mentioning that producers in Accra initially rejected his songs because they did not believe his music could succeed.
In an interview with Kafui Dey, the musician said his determination to pursue music began while he was still in secondary school, when he started carrying his cassette recordings around in search of people who could help him develop his talent.
Ofori Amponsah said his search for opportunities had actually begun as early as Form Four, but he struggled to find anyone willing to invest in his music.
“I started around Form Four. Nobody was willing to help,” he said and explained that his determination eventually brought him to Accra, where he hoped to find producers who would recognise the potential in his songs.
“I came to Accra searching for producers, but they did not believe my songs could work,” he stated.
Despite the rejection, Ofori Amponsah continued pursuing music, with his experience highlighting the challenges aspiring artistes often face when trying to gain industry support before establishing themselves.
