It has emerged that all vehicles embossed with stickers purporting to be from the Office of the President are fake, the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, Mr. Emmanuel Adumoah-Bossman has disclosed.
According to him, the Office of the President has a way of coding its vehicles and does not issue stickers to any official.
He made this known yesterday, via a text message to Chairman General, Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Kokrokoo, a morning show on Accra-based Peace FM.
Mr. Adumoah-Bossman further charged the Ghana Police to consider the letter of the 1992 Constitution and impound vehicles with such stickers, regardless of the occupant.
The host read the text as follows: “Jubilee House, and for that matter the Presidency, does not give stickers to any official. We have a way of coding our vehicles, which I shall not disclose for security reasons.
Please, in the name of the Constitution’s letter, the police should arrest and impound any vehicle bearing any sticker purporting to be from the Office of the President, no matter the status or office of the occupant of such vehicles.”
ARREST
The Deputy Chief of Staff sent the text at the same time the show was discussing the detention of an expat by the name of GhaadourHishan-Hassaan for unauthorised use of an office of the president sticker.
According to reports, at the time of his arrest by the Motor Transport Traffic Department (MTT), he was operating a Nissan patrol with a siren and strobe light. On the airport bypass, he also followed an ambulance through the traffic.
Further reports said he was pursued in order to make an arrest after failing to stop after attracting the notice of the police MTTD.
When he was stopped, he was accused of operating his sirens without authorisation and driving on the wrong side of the road.
