The 1991 Year Group Old Students Association of St. Thomas J.H.S at Obuasi in Ashanti has donated ten desktop computers and their accessories to the school. Speaking at the presentation ceremony Mr. Augustine Cletus Oye, Planning committee chairman for the 1991 Group noted that the donation forms part of activities marking the group’s thirty year’s anniversary celebration.

He said his group has already provided the final year students with mathematical sets, rulers and pens towards their B.E.C.E examination.

Mr. Oye expressed hope that once the donation of the computers has been done, other year groups of the school would follow their example.

Mr. John Alexander Ackon, former Ashanti Regional Minister and President of St. Thomas Cathedral Church, Obuasi, noted that digitisation is the way to go and thank the 1991 Year Group for supporting their former school with the computers.

“The 1991 Group has done tremendously well with this donation and the church and the school management committee would want to appreciate this level of your support, ” he said.

Mr. Ackon pleaded with the group to consider giving similar support to the primary school.

Rev. Father Isaac Kyei, associate priest of the St. Thomas Cathedral, Obuasi, who received the computers expressed his appreciation to the 1991 Year Group for the donation.

Mr. Abdul Razak Karim, Chairman of the 1991 Year Group, who presented the computers to the school on behalf of the association, said plans are underway to provide the library with modern books to enhance learning in the school.
