Nurudeen, Issahaku called into Ghana squad, after Kamaldeen & Abdul Mumin withdraw

Defender Abdul Mumin and winger Kamaldeen Sulemana have withdrawn from the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros this month.

The pair were named in Chris Hughton’s 25-man squad for the two games and were expected to report to camp on Monday, November 13.

However, a late injury to Mumin means the Rayo Vallecano centre-back will be unavailable for the two games on Friday, November 17 and Tuesday, November 21, respectively.

Mumin was only handed a first Black Stars call-up under Hughton but would now have to wait for another time to make the Irish gaffer’s team after the injury setback.

Kamaldeen, who also missed the friendly games against Mexico and the United States of America last month, will once again be absent for the opening games of the qualifiers.

Medeama SC defender Nurudeen Abdulai and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Leicester City have been called up in replace of Abdul Mumin and KamalDeen Sulemana for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nurudeen and Issahaku have since joined the squad to prepare for the double header.

The Black Stars opened camp in Accra Monday ahead of their trip to Kumasi to continue their preparations for the first game against Madagascar scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Ghana will later take on Comoros in Moroni on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
