Mr. George Opoku Amponsah, a member of the Ashanti Regional Communications Team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed concern over the uncontrolled utterances of the Bono Regional Chairman of the party, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC.

According to him, Abronye wants to become more popular than the flagbearer and would stop at nothing to achieve his aim, even if it dents the image of the party. He cautioned that individuals should not be allowed to become more popular than the party, let alone the flagbearer.

Opoku Amponsah, who raised concerns about Abronye’s outbursts and conduct during Otec FM’s political talk show, “Dwabrem,” hosted by Dr. Cash, wondered why party stalwarts such as Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah (MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi) and Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah (MP for Manhyia South) are backing the stance of Abronye, who is now considered a liability to the party.

He also questioned why Lawyer Obiri Boahen, who introduced Abronye to the party, has remained silent over Abronye’s recent conduct. The concerned communicator could not understand why Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin (MP for Effutu) had strayed and veered off course because of Abronye.

The communicator is also worried that Abronye could disrespect Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party’s General Secretary, by failing to honour the scribe’s invitation to settle issues with him. According to him, Abronye, as a regional chairman, feels he is above the rules and regulations of the party and has called the bluff of the party’s leadership.

An enraged Opoku Amponsah said, “Enough is enough,” because the NPP is losing a lot of floating voters in Ghana due to the utterances of Abronye. He added that it is time someone, including Abronye’s spouse, called him to order.

Opoku Amponsah contended that Abronye’s quest for popularity has caused the party to lose the sympathy of floating voters and that he must be called to order and stopped in his tracks before it affects the fortunes of the party.

Opoku Amponsah also offered some advice to the firebrand Bono NPP Chairman, reminding him of the need to adhere to the political lineage and ideology of the NPP as a political party.

He noted that the NPP is a centre-right liberal conservative party that believes in a free-market economy for the growth of the private sector, individual liberties, development in freedom based on the rule of law, and traditional social values. He added that Prof. Albert Adu Boahen, who broke the Culture of Silence, did not insult anybody during his campaigns.

“It is for these reasons that Abronye should not be entertained to insult anybody, no matter what”, Opoku Amponsah said.
