NPP gov’t is inconsistent in making policies -Mahama

Nhyiaeso Constituency branch executives being addressed by JDM

Former President John Dramani Mahama has made mockery of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as a confused government that is not consistent in policy making.

According to him, the government cannot boast of competent appointees to bring out policies that could improve the socio-economic development of the citizenry and, therefore, does not deserve to govern the country.

Speaking to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branches and constituency executives meeting as part of campaign tour in Nhyiaeso constituency in the Ashanti region, the NDC flagbearer hopeful indicated that the NPP government under Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo leadership has been inconsistent in terms of rolling out policies since 2017.

The former President made mention of the luxury tax, the electronic transaction Levy (E-levy), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Agyapa deal and lately the reintroduction of the road toll, which the minister of roads withdrew a year ago.

According to ex-President Mahama, the government has decided to bring back the road tolls, which decision has caused financial loss to the State.

He was of the view that Ghanaians are no longer surprised with the government’s incompetence and inconsistencies since it assumed office five years ago.

He noted that the NPP government is paying the price of arrogance and their refusal to make  broad consultations with stakeholders.

He identified the abysmal performance of the NPP government in the face of the arrogance in touting itself as best managers of the economy while the citizenry wallow in economic hardships.

He said the most unfortunate attitude of the executive is that it has never accepted any responsibility and continue to blame internal challenges on external problems.

He stressed that a responsible government accepts responsibility and seeks for a dialogue or consult stakeholders to resolve challenges, which the NPP government is not ready to do, because whatever they said about the previous NDC government is haunting them.
