Newmont donates vehicles to Ghana Armed Forces 

Newmont Ghana Ahafo South Mine on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 donated 3 brand new Toyota Hilux to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at a short ceremony held at the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, Goaso. The vehicles, which were valued at GH¢1,713,718.68 each are to assist the mobility of personnel deployed in the region.

The three vehicles presented to GAF

Brigadier General Michael Opoku, the General Officer Commanding Central Command, who received the vehicles on behalf of Military High Command, expressed profound gratitude to Newmont Ghana for the gesture and assured that the vehicles would be put to good use for the intended purpose.

He assured them that GAF will do the best it could to ensure peace in the Ahafo Region with the support of stakeholders.

Mr. Alex Kofi Annan, the General Manager of Newmont Ahafo South Mine, who presented the vehicles, indicated that Newmont prides itself in improving the lives and creating value for people that they associate themselves with, especially within their catchment areas.

He indicated that the vehicles will assist the military to improve their patrols, thereby, protecting the region and the residents.

He expressed his appreciation to the leadership of Newmont for their continuous support to the people of Ghana.

Mr. George Boakye, the Regional Minister, who supervised the handing over ceremony of the vehicles also made mention of the numerous support that the region has benefited from Newmont, saying the provision of the vehicles will help personnel to deal with security issues in the region to ensure that the people go about their normal duties without any fear.
