The newly enstooled Nkosuohene of Agona Kwanyarko, Nana Asiedu Ketekɛ I, has pledged to make youth employment and empowerment his top priority.
Speaking at his coronation on Saturday, May 9, 2026 Nana Asiedu Ketekɛ I, said he would initiate programmes aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people in the town.
“My full dedication and selfless commitment to serving Kwanyarko is what has endeared me to the traditional overlord of the area”, Nana Ampem Darko said.
He noted that the new role he has been honoured with had its challenges, but assured that “I am ready to face the challenges because I know the problems of the town and I am ready to tackle them head on. Creating employment opportunities for the youth is what is dear to my heart.”
The new chief, known privately as Dr Richard Asiedu, also called for improved infrastructure, including better roads and a completed hospital that meets the status of the town.
He noted that citizens at home and abroad have started building a hospital which is incomplete, and said he would use his position to push for its early completion.
Nana Asiedu Ketekɛ I, who is also Central Regional Chairman of the NDC and CEO of St Andrew Group of Companies, pledged to help complete the town’s Community Centre, to which he has already contributed iron rods and cement. He added that all proceeds from the coronation would go towards the Community Centre project.
The enstoolment by the Kyidom Divisional Council drew government officials, including the Chief of Staff Mr Julius Debrah and NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, who described the new chief as committed and hardworking.
Chairman for the occasion, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi, urged other chiefs to honour their sons and daughters contributing to community development.
