NDC will shock NPP in Ashanti in 2024 elections -Muntaka

Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi, has stated emphatically that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was deeply rooted in the Ashanti Region, and that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would get the shock of their lives with the results of the 2024 Elections in the region perceived to be their own backyard and stronghold.

Addressing the rank and file of the party at the 30th Anniversary celebration of the National Democratic Congress in Kumasi, the Asawasi MP reminded the NPP that when a government performs abysmally, wastes the taxpayers monies and the resources by enriching only party kingpins and their members at the expense of the ordinary voters who were neglected, the people were bound to vote against such a government.

He said the opposition NDC would ensure that the NPP did not rig the elections, stressing that no amount of money could save a government that neglects the electorate. The MP further said that the 2024 General Elections were not for sale, and cautioned the NPP to disabuse their minds off rigging the elections.

He challenged members of the NDC in the Ashanti Region to demonstrate to the NPP that, the region was also their stronghold, because getting over 27% votes in any election was victory for the NDC. He reminded NDC members that the party was reorganising its structures, and that the exercise was paramount, for which reason every individual must not allow internal party’s wrangling to affect the fortunes of the party, else, the Ghanaian electorate may not forgive them if they failed to win power in 2024.

The Asawasi Lawmaker reiterated that the NDC was not a party, but congress, and did not discriminate on tribal lines, and urged them to give chances to leaders who were competent to unite and deliver.

According to him, the NDC needed a unifier in the Ashanti Region to make a difference, and urged the delegates not to exploit aspirants in order to enrich themselves.
