Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, has hinted that this year’s June 4 commemoration would be held at Asante Akyim Agogo, to honour the late Paramount Chief, Nana Akuoko Sarpong.

Addressing traditional leaders at the Agogo Palace during his Thank-You tour, Mr. Asiedu Nketia noted that although the Constitution bars chiefs from active politics, the late chief never hid his support for the NDC and deserves recognition.

He urged party members frustrated over job opportunities to remain patient, saying the government was working to reset the economy and create jobs.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia added that the District Assemblies Common Fund now goes directly to district accounts, regardless of the MP’s party and that assembly members have begun receiving stipends to ease their financial burden.

He assured residents that the government would deliver on its promises, citing the Big Push infrastructure agenda to fix deplorable roads, including the Agogo–Maame Krobo–Afram Plains stretch.

He also promised to consult the President on naming a road after the late chief and disclosed plans for a 24-hour economy market in Agogo, complete with a police station, hospital and a Kindergarten.

Madam Sarah Amoakoah, District Chief Executive commended the President for appointing women in key decision making processes and appointments in the government.

She outlined projects underway, which includes reshaping pothole-riddled roads, building six three-unit classroom blocks yearly, two CHPS compounds annually and 10 boreholes each year, with five already completed.

Nana Kofi Nti, who chaired the event, praised the government for giving Asante Akyim North its fair “share of the national cake” and pledged the community’s full support while appealing for improved road networks.
