The former CEO of 3Media Networks, Sadiq Abudulai Abu, has won his bid to contest for the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections.
He beat three other contenders in a landslide victory to secure his candidacy. Baba Sadiq as he is popularly called, won with 682 votes.
His contenders Nadine Issah, Fred Nii Tetteh and Judge Hashford Quartey polled 267, 118 and 94 votes respectively.
Baba Sadiq, who officially launched his political career by vying for the parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Okaikoi Central Constituency, has been instrumental in the affairs of the party.
Prior to the 2020 election, he was part of the drafters of the tourism, arts and culture component of the NDC manifesto.
He was also one of the people appointed to speak on arts-related issues in the manifesto. The co-founder of 3Media Networks and the Wildaland Festival has spent his years in the creative industry working in the music and media space.
In an earlier interview with Joy Entertainment, Baba Sadiq disclosed his willingness to serve in any capacity if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins power in the 2024 elections.
Asked if he would mind taking up a position as Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture should the party win the election, he told Showbiz A-Z host Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM, that he was ready for that or any other role that would be given to him.
