NAWOJ tasks governments to prioritise girl child education policy

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have urged the governments to give more priority to girl child education in the country.

NAWOJ National President, Hajia Ladi Bala made the call on Thursday at the final of the Jigawa State first female debate competition 2022 held at the Sir Ahmad Bello Hall, State new Secretariat, Dutse.

She explained that the importance of education, especially that of women, for the development of any society can never be over-emphasized.

The United Nations statistics indicate that ” about 129 million girls around the world are out of school with less than 40% of counties providing girls and boys with equal access to education”.

Ladi, however, appealed to the governments at all levels to accord equal opportunities to the girls to actualize their dreams.

“Girls’ child education is a tool for a better societal development”, she stated.

She challenged women in Jigawa State to use the opportunities given to them by the state government to fulfil their dreams.
