Napoli set to stretch their lead against Empoli

This weekend’s Serie A action includes another chance for the league leaders and champions elect, Napoli, to stretch their lead at the top even further. Luciano Spalletti’s side are currently 15 points clear of second place Inter.

Napoli look set to steamroller their way to the Serie A title in the coming weeks in a first Scudetto win since 1990. Luciano Spalletti’s team have forced their way past any potential title rivals since the start of 2023 and their advantage looks to be insurmountable at this stage of the season.

Spalletti will look to keep his players on track, but as the title gets closer, he may also look to rest players to maintain a Champions League challenge at the same time.

A weekend trip to Empoli should not present any issues in Napoli picking up another win, with the home side failing to win in their last four Serie A games compared to Napoli’s haul of seven straight league victories.

However, despite their struggles, Empoli do still pose a goal threat and could cause problems for a Napoli side coming back from Champions League duty.

The home side have scored in seven of their eight league matches since the start of 2023 and they will be confident of at least getting on the scoresheet against the runaway leaders on home soil this weekend.
