Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi, has declared his intention to seek re-election for the third time when the party opens nominations.

He claims he has gained much experience to enable him grow the party to the admiration of the party hierarchy at all levels hence his third term bid.

He emphasised that there is joy in working for the party in the region. “There is joy in serving the NDC”, he said.

The chairman made the declaration in an interview on Fakye TV’s DayBreak morning show hosted by Kojo Marfo last Tuesday.

He declared, “if nominations open, I’ll contest as regional chairman again because delegates and sympathisers will vote for me to continue my good works in the region.”

Nana Kwasi claims at his age, he is at his peak and has a lot to be done for Asanteman and the NDC.

The Regional chairman traced his roots in Achiase, where he once served as branch chairman and rose through the ranks as Ejisu constituency executive, parliamentary candidate, Ashanti regional vice chairman and currently serving his second term as the regional chairman.

He attributed his success story to his “good works”, grassroots support and teamwork.

“My regional executives and myself worked together to come this far. It has always been teamwork,” he said.

He emphasised all-hands-on-deck approach, coupled with the fact that he is not an arm chair chairman, stating “as regional chairman, I do not sit in the office. I am always on the move going to the various constituencies to monitor party activities there.”

Nana Kwasi boasted that under his leadership, the NDC secured seven parliamentary seats from three previously noting that anytime NDC obtained 27% votes in Ashanti, the party wins the elections and pledged to work harder than before to consolidate and sustain the fortunes of the party into the future, even after President Mahama had exited office.
