Strong Empire CEO, Strongman has replied critics who have questioned his relevance in the Ghana music industry.
The Rapper who is known for his subliminal punchlines have mentioned that; “I have been in the rapper of the year nominations 4 years straight without missing out. You can check, all the Rappers, none of them have been in the nominations like I have so I wonder when they ask some questions.”
In his response, the ‘Rap Performance of the year’ award is voted by the Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) so if the Board does not vote for the Artiste, it is difficult to win the award. “The award is picked by the board so if the board doesn’t vote for you, it makes it difficult. It is no more about the fans again” Strongman asserted in an interview on TV3.
In his view, winning award does three things to the winner; “one, it motivates you, two, it gives you competitor advantage and three, it makes you feel that your sweat has been rewarded.”
“Based on all these three things, I feel I have not missed out” Strongman argued. He also added that, “for YouTube to pick you as influencer, it means you are doing something.”
Won by Amerado, Strongman believes the latter deserves the rapper of the year award. “I congratulated him when he won. Apart from Medikal, I tweeted to congratulated all those who won the award.”
Touching on his relationship with Medikal, Strongman said they are in good terms now, adding that; “he hit me up on Twitter and I followed back and we linked up. I recently released my project he retweeted it. Medikal is now my Gee.”
Currently promoting his new song, ‘Odonkoaa’ featuring Akwaboah, Strongman mentioned his top Rappers, in descending order; Sarkodie, Eno, Medikal, Amerado and Lyrical Joe.
“I perform for over one hour during performance so its funny for anyone to say I don’t have hit songs. If I make hit cool, but if I don’t, I use the Show to make business and make business” Strongman replied critics who have asked why he is having a hit song drought.
